CFL Week 6 Preview

Thursday, July 19

Saskatchewan Rough Riders +11 at Hamilton Tiger-Cats -11

On July 5, Saskatchewan beat Hamilton 18 to 13 straight up as a +6 home dog. The Rough Riders held starting QB Jeremiah Masoli to zero TD passes and an interception. Masoli did pass for 333 yards, though. That’s the thing. Although the Rough Riders won the game, Hamilton racked up 429 yards. The Tiger-Cats did that while holding Saskatchewan to less than 300 total yards. Sure, it’s difficult to lay 11 points. But, Hamilton should be fired up to exact revenge on July 19. I’ll lay the points. CFL Week 6 Betting Pick: Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Friday, July 20

BC Lions +6.5 at Ottawa RedBlacks -6.5

Ottawa is only 2 and 2 this season. Before jumping down their throats, though, it should be noted that the RedBlacks two losses have been at the hands of the best team in the CFL, the Calgary Stampeders. BC is one of the worst teams in the CFL. Many Canadian Football League handicappers aren’t willing to lay the 6.5 points. I’m not one of those handicappers. The Lions have lost twice in this season. Both were blowout losses. Both were on the road. Ottawa has a good shot of handing the Lions yet another blowout road loss. CFL Week 6 Betting Pick: Ottawa RedBlacks

Saturday, July 21

Winnipeg Blue Bombers pk at Toronto Argonauts pk

Based on betting lines, Winnipeg at Toronto this Saturday is the most competitive CFL game of Week 5. The Blue Bombers have had moments of clarity, like the 56 to 10 win over Montreal on June 22 and the 41 to 19 win over BC on July 7. But, Winnipeg heads to Toronto after dropping a game to BC. That’s not a good sign. Also, although the Argonauts are 1 and 1 straight up in their last couple of games, they’re 2 and 0 against the spread in their last couple of games. That means Toronto is playing good football. They’ll beat Winnipeg on Saturday. CFL Week 6 Betting Pick: Toronto Argonauts

Montreal Alouettes Off at Calgary Stampeders Off

There’s a reason odds makers haven’t set an against the spread line in Montreal at Calgary. What’s the reason? The Stampeders are like Alabama. Montreal is like The Citadel. That’s the best way to describe the matchup. Eventually, odds makers will set a betting line. They must because the CFL is comprised of professional football teams. They might wait until the last moment, like Friday or even Saturday morning, to set the line, though. Who covers the spread? Calgary will cover the spread. Montreal is that bad of a football team. CFL Week 6 Betting Pick: Calgary Stampeders
