2022 NCAA Football #1 Alabama vs Texas Betting Analysis for Week 2

2022 NCAA Football #1 Alabama vs Texas Betting Analysis for Week 2

At Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas, a college football game featuring the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0) and the Texas Longhorns (1-0) takes place.

While Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns crushed Louisiana Monroe 52-10, Nick Saben’s team thrashed the Utah Aggies at home 55-0. Both sides had a strong start in week one, but week two will be a much tougher test. Let’s see how both teams stack up against each other so you can get ready to bet against their NCAA Football Odds.

NCAAF Week 2 Odds: Alabama Crimson Tide at Texas Longhorns

Crimson Tide Faces Tough Road Test

The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide breezed through their first test last week, blanking the Utah State Aggies 55-0 in Tuscaloosa. In addition to rushing for a team-high 100 yards and a score, Bryce Young threw for 195 yards and five touchdowns on 64.3% of his attempts.

Jahmyr Gibbs has added 93 rushing yards to his total, while Traeshon Holden, Jermaine Burton, and Jase McClellan each caught two touchdown passes.

When playing Utah State, a team with less talent, the Crimson Tide defense seemed unbeatable. The Aggies were only allowed 57 yards in the air and 79 yards on the ground against Alabama.

However, no one player had eye-popping stats, and the defensive line’s control over the game limited Utah State’s rushing attack and encouraged a potential national championship.

Every year, Nick Saban and the Tide reload on both sides of the ball, and against Utah State, they didn’t seem to miss a beat. Nick Saben is 27-2 against his former assistants, and I believe the Alabama team is prepared to send a message to Texas.

Longhorns Host #1 Ranked Alabama

The Texas Longhorns will look to capitalize on their recent 52-10 victory over Louisiana-Monroe. The Longhorns successfully responded as Steve Sarkisian introduced his spectacular offense by scoring 52 points.

Bijan Robinson contributed a team-high 71 rushing yards and a touchdown to the win, while Quinn Ewers completed passes for 225 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception on 66.7% of his attempts.

After a disappointing debut season, Texas’ defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski is expecting to guide a better defense this time around. The defense allowed an average of 425.6 yards per NCAAF game and 6.03 yards per play, placing them 100th in the NCAA in total defense. In spite of this, they were only able to hold ULM to 10 points and 259 yards of offense.

Betting Lines & Odds

The Crimson Tide are huge -20 (-110) spread betting favorites despite playing on the road. Meanwhile, the Longhorns are +20 spread underdogs and +900 ML underdogs. The point total is set at 64.5 points.

There is little doubt that the Longhorns’ program is improving, and this season they might have a big impact on the Big 12. Though it’s still early in the NCAAF season, I don’t believe the program is quite prepared to take on a club as powerful as Alabama. In this game, the Crimson Tide have significantly more opportunities to win and cover.

Last season, Alabama football was very strong against the run (84.9 YPG), and they might be even stronger this season. Bijan Robinson can’t do it all for the Longhorns at running back, and ultimately Alabama Heisman candidate Bryce Young will outperform Texas’ Freshman Quinn Ewers.

Prediction: Alabama -20 (-110)
