After going over this week’s slate of games numerous times throughout the week, we’ve found a game that we have to bet on and one that we’re staying far away from.
Let’s take a quick look at both of those games, and then we’ll give you our reasons why we are going to bet on or why we aren’t going to bet on that particular game.
NCAAF Week 12 Analysis
Gotta Bet On This One!
UAB Blazers @ LSU Tigers (-14.5)
After a rough start to the season, the LSU Tigers have snuck back into the playoff race. After beating Alabama and Arkansas the past two weeks, the Tigers currently sit in the sixth spot in the College Football Playoff standings. If things go their way, they could earn a playoff berth.
With a playoff berth on the line, the Tigers know that they can’t afford a slip-up. This Saturday, the Tigers will step out of the conference and will host the UAB Blazers. UAB beat North Texas last week, but prior to that win, they had lost three straight games.
One issue for LSU in this one will be the tough rushing attack of UAB. The Blazers average nearly 250 yards on the ground per game. We’ll see if they’ll be able to do that against an SEC defense or not.
The Tigers are 14.5-point favorites heading into this one. In looking at the betting trends, all signs point towards taking LSU. UAB is 0-5 against the spread the last five times they’ve played a team from the SEC. They’re also 0-4 against the spread in their last four games. LSU is 5-1 against the spread the last six times they’ve played in Death Valley.
We’re adding this game to our “Must Bet” list. We think LSU knows what’s at stake, and they’ll give their best effort on Saturday. LSU wins big and easily covers the spread.
We Aren’t Touching This Game!
Utah Utes @ Oregon Ducks (-3)
Two of the top teams in the Pac-12 will collide in Autzen on Saturday. This is a huge game for both teams; with a win by either team, it almost guarantees them a spot in the Pac-12 title game. Both teams can score points, and we assume that this will be a very high-scoring game.
The Oregon Ducks are coming off of a disappointing loss to the Washington Huskies last weekend, while the Utahs dominated Stanford on both sides of the ball. Oregon knows what’s at stake and will be ready to defend its home turf. Oregon is averaging over 43 points per game, so the Utah defense will have to come ready to play.
Utah’s offense put up over 500 yards of offense against Stanford, and with Oregon having a suspect defense, the Utes could put up a ton of yardage and score a lot of points as well. With all of that being said, this one’s going to be a shootout.
With so much at stake, we’re really not sure what’s going to happen. We think there will be a lot of points scored, but we don’t have a good read on who will win. For that reason, we’re going to stay away from this one.
