Heading into College Football Week 11, just seven undefeated teams remain. Among the unblemished seven, five rank in the Top 5. Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Washington, and Florida State are in the running for the 2024 College Football Playoff.

Georgia Bulldogs | 9-0

The Bulldogs haven’t been as dominant as they were last season, but UGA is undefeated and the offense appears to be coming around.

The Dawgs have scored 51, 37, 43, and 30 in their last 4 games when beating Kentucky, Florida Vanderbilt, Florida, and Georgia Missouri. If Georgia can trounce 10-ranked Ole Miss and 17-ranked Tennessee before their yearly destruction of interstate rival Georgia Tech, UGA will take an unblemished record into the SEC Championship.

Michigan Wolverines | 9-0

Although Michigan has yet to play a single ranked squad, the Wolverines have impressed. Michigan followed up a 49-0 victory over rival Michigan State two games back with a 41-13 win over Purdue in their last.

This Saturday, the Wolverines take on 1-loss Penn State. The 11-ranked Nittany Lions host the Wolverines. If the Maize and Blue get by Penn State, Michigan should be in line for an undefeated battle against rival Ohio State in their final regular season game. The winner could enter the CFP the playoff’s top seed.

Ohio State Buckeyes | 9-0

Ohio State was the CFP Selection Committee’s top ranked team last week. That could change this week because the Buckeyes garnered the top ranking due to beating then 9-Notre Dame 17-14 in South Bend. But the Irish lost their third game of the season, which will send them out of the College Football Playoff Top 25.

Still, Ohio State shouldn’t drop more than a couple of spots because the Buckeyes also beat 11-Penn State 20-12. The Buckeyes must only take down Michigan in their final regular season game, without suffering an upset loss to Michigan State or Minnesota, to make it to the College Football Playoff.

Florida State Seminoles | 9-0

Florida State is another squad whose wins over ranked teams don’t look as impressive now as they did when the Seminoles got the victories.

LSU, which ranked fifth in the nation when Florida State beat them in College Football Week 1, suffered a third loss of the season this past Saturday versus rival Alabama. The Tigers, like Notre Dame for Ohio State, should drop out of the Top 25, which means FSU’s quality victory isn’t as quality as it was early in the season.

Florida State could very well fall out of the College Football Playoff top four rankings this week because the other ranked team FSU beat, the Duke Blue Devils, has also lost three.

Washington Huskies | 9-0

Washington could overtake Florida State in the Top 4. The Huskies not only beat ranked USC this past Saturday, but also beat Oregon. Heading into College Football Week 10, the Huskies ranked fifth.

Oregon ranked sixth on the first College Football Playoff Rankings last week. So a Washington move up by a spot isn’t out of the question. Whether Washington makes it into the top four or not, if the Huskies win out, they will be in the top four before the Pac 12 Championship.

The Huskies face 18-Utah this Saturday before taking on 16-Oregon State on November 18.

James Madison Dukes | 9-0

The Dukes are playing great football. James Madison should go undefeated. If they do, it will be difficult to keep the Dukes from a a high-profile bowl game, not necessarily a New Year’s Day Bowl, but a top second-tier bowl is possible.

However, the Dukes have no shot of winning the College Football Playoff National Championship. The reason is because James Madison won’t play a single ranked opponent during the regular season.

Liberty Flames | 9-0

Liberty has an outside shot to make the College Football Playoff. By outside, we mean Liberty’s odds to win the National Championship are at 100,000 to 1.

But Liberty should attract a New Year’s Day Bowl bid should they win out. The Flames take on Old Dominion, UMass, and UTEP in their next three. No doubt, the Flames should go 12-0 and then trounce Jacksonville State, like they did earlier in the season, in the CUSA title game.

The Wolverines take on Penn State, Maryland, and then battle Ohio State in Ann Arbor. John Harbaugh owns the Buckeyes. So that should be a win. So the only real danger is on the road at Penn State this Saturday. If the Wolverines get by the Nittany Lions, an undefeated regular season is assured.

The Wolverines should have zero trouble trouncing Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Nebraska in the Big Ten title game. Michigan heads to the CFP with a 13-0 record.

Ohio State should lose a single game this season, versus Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Washington Huskies

Unlike Ohio State and Michigan, Washington has a tough stretch to end the regular season. The Huskies take on Utah at home this Saturday before traveling to Oregon State. The yearly final game of the regular season against rival Washington State isn’t a for sure win.

Even if the Huskies lose just 1-of-3, they’ll likely face Oregon in the Pac 12 Championship. The Ducks are playing better than Washington right now. So beating the Ducks won’t happen. A New Year’s Day Bowl bid is as far as Washington goes.

Georgia should go undefeated during the regular season. However, the Dawgs will lose to Alabama in the SEC Championship, which could put their College Football Playoff dreams in jeopardy.

The question will be whether Washington is undefeated when they fall to Oregon or if the Huskies have at least one loss. The guess is that Georgia stamps their ticket because Alabama will be ranked in Top 5 and a loss to a top five ranked Bama side won’t ding the Dawgs much.

Florida State Seminoles

Odds To Make CFB Playoffs: Yes -319 / NO +250

Florida State will lose two more games before the Selection Committee makes their final College Football Playoff decisions. The first loss will come against the Florida Gators in The Swamp on November 25.

The second loss will happen in the ACC Championship to the Louisville Cardinals. So the Seminoles won’t win out and make it to the College Football Playoff.
