One of the toughest things about wagering on college football is picking out a few potential winners from a massive schedule. The process gets a little easier this weekend, as we are down to the conference championship games, which means fewer matchups to choose from. That said, many of these games are going to be close, and we will almost certainly see a surprise or two before all is said and done. It’s also worth noting that we have a few teams who might well be in the playoff conversation by winning their conference. There may not be as many games as usual, but we still have a lot of ground to cover. Let’s get it all rolling with our Week 14 ATS picks so you can get all set to make your bets against the NCAA Football Lines.
ATS Week 14 Betting Picks | 2022 College Football Analysis
Utah Utes Vs USC Trojans (-3)
It has been a rough few years for the PAC-12, as the conference has been left out of the playoffs since the 2016-17 season. Right now, they are on the outside looking in again, but if the USC Trojans can come away with the win on Friday night to get to 12-1, they are going to give the Playoff Committee something to discuss. They will face the 9-3 Utah Utes for all the marbles in the PAC-12 Conference Championship Game, in what promises to be a close one. These two have evenly split their last 10 meetings, both SU and ATS. USC, though, has covered in 5 of their last 7 overall and I like them to do it again here.
Kansas State Wildcats Vs TCU Horned Frogs (-2 ½)
It seems strange to say that an unbeaten team would be in danger of missing out on the playoffs, but that is certainly the feeling you get with the TCU Horned Frogs. They are currently sitting in the #3 spot, but given what the Playoff Committee has done with their rankings, you get the sense that a loss for TCU this weekend might leave them on the outside looking in. Winning would solve everything, and you have to like their chances. TCU has been a good bet across the board this season and have now covered the spread in 5 of their last 6 games. That said, the Kansas State Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 and are coming into this one on a 3-game winning streak, which they needed to get to this game. I think TCU is a deserving favorite here and I like them to win and cover.
Clemson Tigers Vs UNC Tar Heels (+7 ½)
While we would all love to be able to pick nothing but slam dunks when wagering, I like taking a bit of a chance every now and again. On the face of it, the Clemson Tigers are a deserving favorite in the ACC Conference Championship Game versus North Carolina, which the trends would seem to show. After all, the Tigers are a perfect 9-0 ATS in their last 9 games played in the month of December, but this Clemson team feels somehow different, losing 2 games this season and missing out on the playoffs for the second straight year. I think UNC can keep this one close and cover the spread in the process.
