Can the Colts Derail the Giants Playoff Chances? | Indianapolis Colts at New York

Indianapolis Colts

In a season where the Colts were predicted to win the NFC South, things literally went south quickly. Starting off with numerous injuries, the Colts could just never get things going. Matt Ryan was thought to be the missing piece, but the veteran’s age started to show, and he obviously wasn’t the answer. Colts ownership thought that firing Frank Reich and bringing in Jeff Saturday to right the ship was the thing to do. That hasn’t worked out either. Combine those with Jonathan Taylor missing much of the season, and you have a season to forget.

We’re not sure who the Colts will start at quarterback this weekend. Nick Foles started for the first time this season last week, but the Colts offense was only able to muster three points against the Los Angeles Chargers. We’re not sure if Saturday will go back to Ryan, or give Sam Ehlinger another shot. Regardless of who is at quarterback, the Colts offense will probably struggle to move the ball.

The Colts defense hasn’t been much better. They’re allowing just under 24 points per game, and they have struggled to stop the run. The lone bright spot on this side of the ball is their secondary play. The Colts have done well against the pass, allowing just over 200 yards per game through the air.

New York Giants

Brian Daboll has done a great job of turning the Giants around. With a group of backup wide receivers, Daniel Jones has done an admirable job of leading New York. He has had tremendous help from Daboll’s play-calling, along with the resurgence of Saquon Barkley. Barkley has had a fantastic season, and he has been able to stay healthy.

The Giants defense isn’t anything special, but they just find ways to get big stops when they need them. They struggle to stop the run, but their bend but don’t break style has been able to help them win eight games this season. We’ll see if they’ll be able to contain a Colts offense that has struggled throughout the season.

Prediction

The Giants have been made 5.5-point favorites in this one. This game is very important for the Giants. They need to win to stay in the playoff hunt. The Colts have nothing left to play for, and it’s obvious that they’re counting down the days until the end of the season. It won’t be pretty, but the Giants will win 24-14.
