DPC 2021: Season 2 – China Upper Division | Dota2 Betting Preview for May 2nd Matches

Team Aster Vs Vici Gaming – Sunday, May 2 – 17:00 CST

Team Aster have had quite a promising start of the season. They managed a successful run through the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: S1 – China Closed Qualifier and had a very solid runner-up finish in the main event.

After that, Aster hit a slump and disappointed with a fourth-place finish at FMWH Dota2 Championship Season 3. At the tournament, Aster beat Elephant (2-0), Vici (2-1), Sparking Arrow Gaming (2-1), and CDEC Gaming (2-0) to win their group.

Upon entering the playoffs, however, things turned sour. Aster lost their upper bracket match against PSG.LGD (1-2) beat Invictus Gaming (2-0) but fell flat against Elephant (1-2).

Aster’s poor form continued into April when they appeared at the ONE Esports Singapore Major. There, they did not impress.

Aster ended the Major with a 1-3-4 record, which earned them an underwhelming ninth-12th place finish. Having struggled for so long, Aster will need to step it up this week to find the form to defeat Vici.

Like Aster, Vici Gaming haven’t impressed anyone of late. They finished third at the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: S1 – China Upper Division in March, seventh-eighth at FMWH Dota2 Championship Season 3, and failed to improve upon that with a seventh-eighth finish at the Singapore Major.

Ahead of this week, Vici hold a 4-3-3 record in their last ten and a 2-0-1 record since the start of the month.

Both teams still have a handful of games left to be played this week. This should give them a chance to gain some momentum and warm-up ahead of the weekend clash.

Regardless of how these two will perform this week, it won’t change the fact that they’re fairly equally matched. Three out of their last six meetings ended in all three maps played, and in the form they’re in, we don’t believe that will change here.

Prediction: Over 2.5 maps

PSG.LGD Vs Invictus Gaming – Sunday, May 2 – 20:00 CST

PSG.LGD and Invictus Gaming are currently two of the strongest Chinese Dota 2 teams, which should result in a banger of a match on Sunday. Some esports bookmakers view PSG.LGD as the favorite, but we would not completely agree with that.

Invictus Gaming have been playing extremely well of late. Not only have they won Dota Pro Circuit 2021: S1 – China Upper Division in March, they are also the reigning ONE Esports Singapore Major champions.

PSG.LGD also attended the Major, where they looked fairly solid. They made it to the lower bracket finals, where PSG.LGD got beaten by no other than IG with 2-1.

That clash was a fairly close one, but there is no denying that IG were the better team that day. With that win, IG are now 2-1 in the head-to-head with PSG.LGD in 2021.

These two sides met 116 times in their history, marking one of the longest-standing rivalries in the scene. PSG.LGD won 53% of those games (59-5-52) and 83.3% of these bouts in 2020 (15-3).

Even though PSG.LGD were better than IG throughout 2020, that doesn’t mean much. This version of IG is much stronger than what we were looking at in 2020.

Although IG might not be able to keep their streak going for the entire season, they’re still in prime form. With the performances IG have been showing of late, we have to take their side for this match.

Prediction: Invictus Gaming to win
