Cloud9 vs MAD Lions

Cloud9 are priced as favorites to defeat MAD Lions, even though this is a match between an LCS and LEC team, which usually ends in favor of the European squad. Still, Cloud9 have looked much better this season.

MAD Lions have found some success early into the year, but they haven’t shown much since and have struggled even against some of the weakest teams in the LEC. This isn’t a good look, and it definitely puts a huge question mark above the MAD Lions and their chances to make much noise at LoL Worlds 2023.

Cloud9 didn’t win the LCS Championship, but perhaps they should’ve. Cloud9 have proven themselves as the best and most consistent team in the LCS, and while there is a negative stigma to the fact that they hail from the LCS, Cloud9 can actually make it far at LoL Worlds.

But for this match, Cloud9’s biggest advantage is the fact that they are far more consistent and have a more stable top and bottom lane. Elsewhere, the teams look to be evenly matched.

NRG Esports vs Weibo Gaming

Based on the betting odds provided, Weibo Gaming’s odds of beating NRG Esports are over 90%. This may sound OK since this is a game between a Chinese and NA team; however, knowing how NRG and WBG play, 90% is way too high.

Weibo Gaming is the most inconsistent team in the world. They can either play at an elite level or completely break down and lose to anyone. Much of that has to do with top laner Kang "TheShy" Seung-lok, a very volatile player who can win or lose any game on his own.

NRG Esports doesn’t have the individual talent to compete against Weibo Gaming, but they don’t have to have it. NRG  won the LCS by using unusual playstyles and team compositions, which caught many teams off guard, and it could also catch Weibo off guard.

Individually, NRG Esports are much weaker than Weibo Gaming and should not be winning games like this. However, Weibo can choke.

G2 Esports vs Dpluis KIA

G2 Esports and Dplus KIA enter LoL Worlds 2023 as two enigmas. G2 Esports have proven themselves as by far the best LEC team this season, whereas Dplus KIA have failed to accomplish much domestically. 

However, it’s still hard to underestimate them, mainly due to the individual talent on this roster.

From afar, this looks like a game that should end in Dplus KIA’s favor, but it’s hard to find a good reason to believe Dplus KIA are such a big favorite. G2 Esports have excellent players across all positions and very few weaknesses.

Dplus KIA, on the other side, have a very high ceiling, yet they’ve not shown much. So if you believe in potential, Dplus KIA are the most likely victors. On the other side, form-wise, G2 Esports are in a much better spot.
