Monaco Grand Prix Winner Betting Odds for Today’s Favorites

A couple of races ago, we had something of a surprise in the world of Formula 1, with Lando Norris picking up his first win to deny Verstappen adding another victory to his already amazing resume.

For a moment, we all thought that maybe might yet have a battle for the 2024 F1 World Championship, but Verstappen bounced back and picked up the win in the following race, which was the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

My Analysis

Verstappen looks to be well on track for another title, but this weekend we have one of the more unique and iconic races on the F1 calendar. The Monaco Grand Prix requires a different set of skills as the drivers look to navigate the tight road track in Monaco. The potential winner here is not such a slam dunk, so let’s take a look at the Formula 1 current odds for this one-of-a-kind race.

Max Verstappen F1 Odds -141

There is no change in the fact that the defending champion is once again in as the favorite to win. The big difference here is that his odds are not as short as we have seen in recent races, where he was a much heavier favorite. There are certain races that Verstappen has won year after year, but that is not quite the case with this one. This is not to suggest that Monaco is a nightmare Grand Prix for Verstappen, as he has won 2 of the last 3 races in Monaco. Still, that lone loss in there means that he might just be a little vulnerable this weekend. That said, when you consider how often he finds a way to win, you might be best served to bet him to win again, especially at such fair odds.

Charles Leclerc F1 Odds +380

Leclerc has been the model of consistency this season, finishing no worse than 4th in each of the 7 races to this point. While he has been on the podium 4 times, he is still looking for his first victory of the year. If he wants to stay in touch with Verstappen and take a run at the championship, he needs to start turning some of those close calls into wins. The problem that he has this weekend is that Monaco has not been a particularly great location for Leclerc. His best finish on this course is 4th, so I would be very reluctant to take him to win. A podium finish is not out of the question, though.

Lando Norris F1 Odds +410

If you were asking me to pick a potential upset winner this weekend, I would be more than a little likely to go with Norris. Yes, he is probably still buzzing after his first career F1 win in Miami, but besides that, he has been very much among the leaders over the last few races. In fact, he has finished either first or second in each of the last 3 races. To find his best performance in Monaco, you need to go all the way back to 2021, with Norris finishing 3rd in that one. Given that performance and his recent form, it might well be worth taking a risk on him to win.

Monaco Grand Prix 2023

Just when it looked as though things were beginning to heat up in the race for the Formula 1 World Championship, we saw things literally cool down last weekend. The previous race on the F1 schedule in Italy had to be canceled due to extreme flooding that made it impossible for the race to go on. Furthermore, given how the rest of the calendar looks, rescheduling that race might well prove to be logistically impossible. All we can do now is look ahead to the next race up, which comes this Sunday in Monaco. Red Bull Racing will look to continue their stranglehold on the season, which is threatening to become a 2-horse race between the drivers on that team. Let’s take a quick look at the current F1 odds for this weekend in Monaco.

Formula 1 Picks and Analysis: Monaco Grand Prix 2023 | F1 Odds

When: Sunday, May 7 at 3:25 pm ET
Where: Miami, USA
TV / Streaming: ABC, ESPN+

Max Verstappen

The two-time defending F1 World Champion is back on top again this season, but unlike in 2022 when he had things wrapped up rather quickly, it seems as though Verstappen may need to work a little harder if he is to make it 3 in a row. Given that Verstappen has won 3 of the first 5 races and finished 2nd in the other 2 you would expect him to be well clear at the top, but his lead right now is just 14 points, with his Red Bull teammate the one breathing down his neck. While the champ does have a win in Monaco, with that one coming a couple of years back, this race has not been particularly kind to him. Might the favorite be on thin ice this weekend?

Betting Pick: +114 | Bet Max Verstappen to Win Today

Sergio Perez

Making the move to Red Bull has proven to be a great decision for Perez, as he is really beginning to deliver the goods in his 3rd full season with the team. Perez finished 4th overall in his inaugural season with Red Bull before going one better last year. With 2 wins this season, Perez has already matched his win total from 2022, so he is certainly on pace to improve on his overall performance once again. Perez won in Monaco in 2022 and a repeat of that performance might well see him take over the #1 spot in the driver standings.

Betting Pick: +340 | Bet Sergio Perez to Win Today

Charles Leclerc (+370)

With so many races still to come, a lot can still happen that could potentially change the course of the championship race but given how things are going with Red Bull, it would be a surprise to see a driver break up the top 2. If that were to happen, though, you could make an argument that Leclerc might be the man to do it. Leclerc won 3 races last season, but he has yet to get his first one this season and has been forced to quit in 2 races already. He cannot afford to leave those points on the track if he wants to get back in this thing. Leclerc ended up in 4th in Monaco last season.

Betting Pick: +370 | Bet Charles Leclerc to Win Today

Fernando Alonso

A veteran of F1, it looked as though Alonso was seeing his career come to an end, but he is going through a bit of a renaissance this year. Alonso has been on the podium in 4 of the 5 races this season, finishing 4th in the other one. Those need to turn into wins pretty quickly, though, if he is to break up the top 2. He finished 7th in Monaco last season, so definitely a longshot here.

Betting Pick: +450 | Bet Fernando Alonso to Win Today
