French Fancy: Jorge Martin Leads the Pack in MotoGP Betting for Le Mans

When putting together these articles, it’s fun to look back at the careers of every rider to get an idea of their progression in the sport.

Many of them have had championship wins at the Moto3 and Moto2 levels before making the leap to the top level.

Today’s MotoGP Top 4 Favorites
1. Jorge Martin92 points
2. Francesco Bagnaia75 points
3. Enea Bastianini70 points
4. Pedro Acosta69 points

My Analysis

For those guys, there is often a period of settling in and finding their feet before they can make a run at a world championship among the very best riders. Of course, it’s what is happening now that is the most important, which is why we also look at current form when putting together our potential favorites for any MotoGP race. This weekend the riders will be in France for the 5th race on the schedule, but who will come out on top? Let’s take a closer look.

Jorge Martin

Martin has followed a path very similar to what we just discussed above and is reaping the benefits of that experience this season. He is currently the leader in the rider standings, but there are some who doubt his ability to stay there. After all, his best finish in MotoGP to this point is 9th, which is where he has finished in each of the last 2 seasons, but he already has a win to his name this year, as well as a 3rd and 4th. He will be looking to bounce back in France after being forced to retire in the previous race. Martin ran 2nd in this race in 2023, so look out for him this weekend.

Francesco Bagnaia

If Martin is to go on and win this whole thing, he is probably going to need to hold off a serious challenge from Bagnaia, who is the current 2-time defending world champion. He is in the mix again this year, sitting in 2nd overall, 17 points out of the top spot. He is coming off a win in Spain last time out, which was his 2nd victory of the year after a win in Qatar in the season opener. He always has to be seen as a threat, but this is a race that has not been kind to Bagnaia, as he had failed to finish in each of the last 2 seasons in France.

Enea Bastianini

Bastianini headed into last season with high hopes after finishing 3rd overall in 2022, in what was just his second full season at this level. 2023 turned out to be something of a nightmare, though, as he missed a bunch of races through injury, making it impossible for him to mount any type of serious challenge. He is back in business this season, sitting 3rd overall, although still looking for his first win of the season. He missed this race last season, but Bastianini won in France in 2022, so he might be worth a look.

Pedro Acosta

Acosta is another rider that is very much following the path that we outlined in the opening of this piece. He won the Moto3 championship at the first time of asking. He quickly jumped to Moto2, which he won in his second full season, and he is now in the midst of his first full year at the top level. Things are going pretty well to this point, with Acosta sitting 4th in the rider standings, albeit without a win. He does, though have a pair of podium finishes, so that might be something worth looking at in France.

2023 MotoGP France

It is still very early in the 2023 MotoGP season, with just 4 races in the books. While it’s certainly still very early, we do have one racer who is taking control of the standings. There is plenty of time for things to change and there are several racers who could yet get into the mix and take a run at the World Championship. This weekend sees MotoGP head to France for the next race on the schedule, which is set to go on Sunday morning at 8 AM EST. Let’s take a quick look at the MotoGP betting analysis and potential favorites for this one by going through the current top 4 riders in the standings.

Francesco Bagnaia

Winning a championship in any sport is tough, but it’s even tougher to win it in consecutive seasons. That is what Bagnaia is looking to do after winning it all last season. He won 7 races last season on his way to the championship, and he is on course to do it again, as he already has a pair of wins through the opening 4 races. Those wins have helped him amass 87 points, which means he already has a 22-point lead at the top of the standings. He will be looking for much better in France this weekend after being forced to retire in the 2022 version of this race.

Marco Bezzecchi

After a successful run in Moto2, Bezzecchi made the move to MotoGP last season. It was a solid enough showing, with Bezzecchi finishing 14th overall. That said, no one really expected him to take a run at a World Championship this year, but that is exactly what he is doing. He opened the season with a 3rd place finish in Portugal, which he followed up with a win in Argentina and a 6th place finish in the US. He did lose some ground after failing to finish the last race, but he should be able to bounce back this weekend.

Brad Binder

Over his first 3 seasons in MotoGP, Binder has continued to improve with each passing season, progressive racking up more points than the previous season. He finished 6th overall in 2022 after amassing 188 points and has already picked up 62 points this season. He is also coming off his best race of the season with a 2nd place finish in Spain and you get the sense that his first career win in MotoGP is not that far off. He ran 8th in France last year and I believe that Binder might be a good top 5 bet this time around.

Jack Miller

There is much the same story with Miller, who has also seen his final points total ger higher with each passing season. In 2022, he finished 5th overall, picking up 189 points, which is his best total at this level. He only has 49 points through the opening 4 races, but it is worth noting that he failed to finish in the US race, which means that no points were added to his total. He might well be worth a look this weekend, though, as he has a 2nd place finish in France in 2022.
