Gulfstream Park Picks for Saturday, June 13

Race 6 – 2:42 pm ET – 1 Mile Dirt – $25,000 Allowance Optional Claiming

It’s impossible to go against 3/1 on the morning line Solitary Gem. The Peter Walder trained runner has now won 3 in a row. Expect Gem to make it 4 in a row because the 5-year-old mare can stay as close as she wants, or close against a fast-pace.

Carlos Silva trained Judy’s Way takes a massive drop from $75,000 optional claiming. Judy raced in a $75,000 optional claiming event in the race before as well. She finished second in both. Trainer Carlos Silva has a win and second form 3 entrants so far at Gulfstream. This one has a shot to win. So, make sure to use in an exacta box.

Wrong Color could be in the best position to hang on for third place. 5/2 on the morning line Violent Trick, Dance D’Oro, and Lil Miss Hotshot figure to go after each other on the lead. Judy’s Way will press while Wrong Color should be in the garden spot. Color won’t catch Judy’s Way for second, but she will hang on for third as Solitary Gem motors by both of them.

  • Win: Solitary Gem
  • Place: Judy’s Way
  • Show: Wrong Color

Race 11  – 5:22 pm ET – 1 Mile Dirt – $55,000 Handicap

A lot of speed signed on for this handicap, which is why we like the looks of Noble Drama. The 9/2 morning line choice has 4 wins, 3 seconds, and a third from 13 races over Gulfstream’s dirt. Jockey Joe Bravo rode this one to a second-place finish in the 7 furlong Big Drama Stakes in this one’s last. That’s important to note because Network Effect parlayed a Big Drama win to a second place finish in the Carter Handicap last week. Drama can roll by all the speed.

Presser Math Wizard has a big shot. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. puts the blinkers on the millionaire 4-year-old colt. Math Wizard should relish the one-turn mile distance while all the other speed breaks to the inside of this one.

Diamond Oops has 5 wins from 7 races at Gulfstream. That makes it impossible to discount the morning line chalk’s chances. But the Looking at Lucky sired gelding figures to get over played here. We’ll relegate to third.

  • Win: Noble Drama
  • Place: Math Wizard
  • Show: Diamond Oops

Race 12 – 5:54 pm ET – 1 Mile Dirt – $8,000 Claiming

Sometimes it makes no sense to go against chalk. That’s the case with Race 13 at Gulfstream on Saturday. Just Kidding is 9/5 on the morning line. We might get 6/5 or worse. But Kidding is still the play because Saffie Joseph Jr. claimed and drops. We’d worry if this one didn’t have a nice work on June 6.

So Long Chuck looks like the speed of the speed. Chuck finished third two races ago and then finished second in its last. Expect Chuck to set the pace and then end up second again as Just Kidding goes by gelding in the stretch.

Dexter Road can pick up third. If Just Kidding doesn’t fire, Road can win this race. It’s up to you to decide if you want to wheel this runner in the trifecta.

  • Win: Just Kidding
  • Place: So Long Chuck
  • Show: Dexter Road
