Top MLB Series Of The Weekend

Written by on August 19, 2016

It’s that time of the week once again where we take a look at what’s on tap for the weekend in baseball. As always, we will be looking at the best series, which are usually the ones that have playoff implications. It’s getting down to the wire in the MLB now, and with each passing day, teams are seeing their playoff chances start to flourish or wither and die. With about 40 games left in the regular season, teams still have a chance to make a move, but the window of opportunity is starting to close. With all of that said, let’s take a closer look at some of the big series going down this weekend. You can check in on all the betting odds for these right here at MyBookie.ag.

Here’s a Closer Look At The Top MLB Series Of The Weekend

Toronto Blue Jays at Cleveland Indians – Aug 19-21

Both of these teams look like a very good bet to make the playoffs, as both are in front in their respective divisions. It feels as though the Toronto Blue Jays have been chasing Baltimore all season long, but now they finally have their nose in front, and have built up a 1.5-game lead in the AL East. Things are a little more comfortable for Cleveland in the Central, as they have a 6-game lead that is beginning to look as though it is going to be enough. Both teams are in good form right now, and this should be a fun series to watch and wager on.

Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles – August 18-21

If truth be told, this could be the series that hammers the final nail in the coffin of the playoff hopes of the Houston Astros. It is the Wild Card Game that is their only real option right now, and they are currently 6.5 games off the pace being set by the Baltimore Orioles. The Astros were shelled 13-5 in the opening game of this 4-game series, and if they can’t find a way to at least get a split here, the gap could open up to a point where it is unassailable.

Miami Marlins at Pittsburgh Pirates – Aug 19-21

The NL Wild Card race is about as tight as it gets right now, and both the Miami Marlins and Pittsburgh Pirates are right in the thick of things. The Pirates are just a game off the pace, and are putting together a nice little run of wins right now. They find themselves a game back of the final spot, while the surprising Marlins are 2.5 games back. The team that wins this series will certainly give themselves a nice little boost.

New York Mets at San Francisco Giants – Aug 18-21

It has been a disappointing season for the New York Mets, but they are still in a position where a Wild Card spot is a possibility, but they are going to have to play better than they have been doing of late of they want to get in. They have a tough trip to San Francisco to face the Giants, who are currently holding on to one of those coveted playoff positions. The New York Mets need this series, and they have already dug themselves a hole by losing the first of the four games.
