Top MLB SU Winning Picks of the Weekend

Written by on August 19, 2016

One of the things that makes baseball betting so challenging is that you don’t often see sweeps taking place in series that look to be one-sided. Identifying winners is tough, but that’s a big part of what makes wagering on games so much fun. There is a full slate of MLB games coming up this weekend, and I have a few match-ups picked up that could potentially help me cash a few winning tickets. I’ll be looking at some ATS options in another article, but for now, I’m going to focus on some straight up winners who I believe can get the job done this weekend.

In Depth Analysis On The Top MLB SU Winning Picks of the Weekend

Chicago Cubs over Colorado Rockies – Friday

The Chicago Cubs are on fire at the moment, which seems to be a phrase that we have been using to describe them all season long. They look to have their division all sewn up, and while that might be an opportunity for them to relax a little, the opposite is actually proving to be true. This looks like a team that intent on maintaining momentum all the way to the finish, and you have to like them to win against the Rockies on Friday with Kyle Hendricks on the mound.

Texas Rangers over Tampa Bay Rays – Friday

The Tampa Bay Rays are now essentially playing out the season, as it has been a disappointing year that has seen them fall to the cellar of the AL East. The Texas Rangers, on the other hand, are flying high, and are well on top in the West. They will send Cole Hamels (12-4, 2.88 ERA) to the mound on Friday, and that alone should be enough for the Rangers to come away with the win.

Seattle Mariners over Milwaukee Brewers – Saturday

The Seattle Mariners may be 7-games back of the Rangers in the West Division, but they are within 3 games of the final Wild Card spot, which makes every one of their games important at this stage of the season. A series against the Brewers over the weekend may be just what they need to close the gap a little, and the one that they really should win comes on Saturday night. They have a definite edge in the pitching match-up for that one, with Felix Hernandez (7-4, 3.34 ERA) on the mound against Wily Peralta (5-8, 6.00 ERA).

Washington Nationals over Atlanta Braves – Sunday

The Braves have been tinkering with their line-up all season long, and they will continue to do so when they put relief pitcher Joel de La Cruz on the mound to start against the Washington Nationals. The Braves have only won 1 game in the last 10 in which De La Cruz has made an appearance of some kind. Gio Gonzalez will start for the Nationals, and while he has not been at his best this season, he should have enough to get by the hapless Braves.
