Top MLB Games of the Weekend
Those of you tuning in to watch Major League Baseball games on Sunday will notice something very different in terms of what the players are wearing as MLB is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Negro Leagues. All MLB players, managers, coaches and umpires will wear a symbolic Negro Leagues 100th anniversary logo patch during games. Some of the most legendary players in baseball history played in the Negro Leagues.
Here’s a look at two interesting baseball matchup around MLB and start planning your baseball betting for this weekend. Do it now before those games go off the board.
Oakland A’s at San Francisco Giants

It’s the Battle of the Bay Area this weekend, although on paper it shouldn’t be much of a battle as the A’s are one of the best teams in baseball and the Giants are rebuilding. San Francisco has dropped six of their last nine contests against the A’s at Oracle Park, dating back to 2016.
San Francisco’s pitching staff has largely been the problem, having allowed 30 home runs, second-most in the majors behind Arizona. The Giants have allowed a home run in 16 consecutive games, which marks the longest such streak in franchise history. If any game this weekend goes to extra innings, bet on the A’s. They are 3-0 in extra-inning games, and have the most extra inning wins. In fact, no other team has more than one extra inning win and only Houston has more extra-inning games (5). Saturday features the most intriguing pitching matchup of the weekend between these two because it’s good-looking A’s rookie Jesus Luzardo (1-0, 2.60). Luzardo earned his first big league win his last time out, limiting the Astros to two runs over 5 2/3 innings last Sunday. It was Luzardo’s second career start after he broke in as a reliever down the stretch last year and again this season after a delayed arrival to summer camp. Now healthy and stretched out, Luzardo looks ready to fulfill his promise as one of the game’s top pitching prospects. The Giants on Saturday go with one-time top Orioles prospect Kevin Gausman (0-1, 4.05). He had the Giants’ first quality start of the season last Sunday after firing 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball at Dodger Stadium. Gausman was excellent in the outing, but probably shouldn’t have worked into the seventh inning. He allowed a one-out single to Cody Bellinger before Tyler Rogers came on in relief. It was Rogers who gave up a three-run homer three batters later to spoil Gausman’s chance for his first win of the year. He is 1-2 with a 2.77 ERA in four starts against the A’s.Los Angeles Dodgers at Los Angeles Angels

While the A’s and Giants will be playing the Bay Area Series in Northern California, the Dodgers and Angels will compete in the Freeway Series in L.A. The teams will also meet again at Dodger Stadium in the final three games of the regular season, Sept. 25-27. Last season, the Angels swept the four-game season series against the Dodgers.
This one also looks like a mismatch, though, with the Dodgers among the World Series betting favorites at Mybookie and the Angels near the bottom of the AL West. The Angels have Mike Trout, a three-time AL MVP, but the Dodgers have three former league MVPs in Cody Bellinger, Mookie Betts and Clayton Kershaw. Bellinger, though, has been awful so far in 2020. He won NL MVP last year. Entering the weekend, Trout is on fire, having homered seven times in nine games since returning from paternity leave. Monday night, Trout recorded his 20th career multi-HR game, which tied Angels Hall of Famers Tim Salmon and Vladimir Guerrero for the most such games in Angels history. In addition, Anthony Rendon has homered in his past three game after a slow start. The Sunday pitching matchup looks quite one-sided in favor of the Dodgers and Rookie of the Year candidate Dustin May (1-1, 2.75). The redhead logged a quality start in Monday’s loss to the Padres, allowing two runs on five hits over his six frames. The 22-year-old right-hander walked two and struck out two on the evening. He served up a solo homer to light-hitting catcher Austin Hedges in the fifth inning, then allowed a go-ahead RBI single to Eric Hosmer in the sixth — but that was the extent of the damage done against him. He has 17/5 K/BB ratio over 19 2/3 innings through his first four starts. The Angels signed Julio Teheran (0-1, 13.50) in the offseason and that hasn’t gone well as he is scheduled to pitch Sunday. Teheran lasted just two innings in a no-decision against the Athletics on Monday, surrendering five runs on five hits and a pair of walks. Through his first two starts of the season, Teheran owns a troublesome 2.36 WHIP and 3/2 K/BB ratio across 5 2/3 innings.Expert Predictions
