Yankees vs. Astros ALCS Game Two Betting Preview

Written by on October 20, 2022

After the whirlwind that went on in the National League with the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds facing off, it seems fitting that the American League is a battle of the best. Tonight, the New York Yankees and Houston Astros square off in game two of the ALCS.

The Astros have been well-rested the entire postseason, and that lack of rest seemed evident in game one for the Yankees. They were playing on one day of rest as they lost game one, 4-2. We have the best two teams in the AL, so let’s enjoy the show and bet on MLB

Yankees vs. Astros National League Game 2

Undefeated

Four games into the postseason, the Houston Astros are 4-0. They are undefeated and look like not only the favorites in game two but perhaps the favorites to win the World Series. Minute Maid Park was rocking in game one, and it has certainly provided its home-field advantage.

Unfortunately for the Astros, there is only one Justin Verlander, but they are in incredible hands with Framber Valdez on the hill. Valdez has been one of the most underrated pitchers in all of MLB with a 17-6 record in the regular season, 2.82 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 194 strikeouts. He was unhittable for the majority of the season, but reality started to settle on him as the season came to a close.

The Astros swept the Seattle Mariners in three games, but they basically played four, as game three was 18 innings long. Houston is rested, healthy, and confident as can be. The New York Yankees are in danger. Note that the Astros are hard to beat at home with a 57-26 record, but only 42-41 against the spread.

Strikeout Galore

New York Yankees fans might want to shield their eyes from this stat. In the game one loss, the Yankees struck out 17 times compared to twice for the Houston Astros. 15 strikeouts is the largest playoff game differential in MLB history. It is time for the Bronx Bombers to show up in game two.

It is great that Harrison Bader is miraculously playing the best baseball of his career, but the big guys on campus need to wake up their bats. Luis Severino will take the mound for the Yankees, who is coming off a rough showing against the Cleveland Guardians, allowing three runs in the 6-5 loss. Severino had a 3.18 ERA in the regular season.

New York struggled against the spread this season, especially on the road at 37-46. The good thing is, nobody cares about the spread come playoff time, but they were still barely above .500 on the moneyline away from Yankee Stadium at 43-40. You expect better from the No. 2 seed.

Betting Tips for Game Two

In what has been a hectic 2022 MLB postseason, MyBookie has some great options to bet on for game two of the ALCS between the New York Yankees and Houston Astros. You can stick with the spread, moneyline or find some fun player props for this pivotal game.

Houston covered the spread in game one, and they have yet another favorable matchup on the mound. The question is, which version of Framber Valdez will we get? If we get Valdez on his a-game, the Yankees are in trouble of dropping the first two games of the series.
