This week, we are in Texas for the next round of races, with all 3 series running over the course of the next few days. As always, the Cup Series race is set for Sunday, with the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 set to begin at 3 PM EST. We have a new leader at the top of the driver standings, with Kyle Larson leapfrogging Martin Truex Jr. to take the top spot, but will he still be there after this weekend’s race? It’s tight at the top, so I’m sure we are going to see some lead changes between now and the end of the season. For now, let’s look at the current favorites for this one.

NASCAR Race Odds and Favorites to AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400

  • Kyle Larson +380
  • William Byron +600
  • Tyler Reddick +700
  • Denny Hamlin +750

Kyle Larson

As we already mentioned, Larson is back atop the driver standings after a very solid couple of weeks that saw him land on the podium in 2 straight races. That is on top of the win he picked up earlier in the season in Las Vegas. Larson almost certainly came into this season with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder after just missing out on his second career Cup Series Championship in 2023. His start to this season was not great, but he now appears to be slipping into high gear. That may help him succeed on a track that has not been kind to him over the past couple of years.

William Byron

While Larson may be on top right now, he will be feeling the pressure from the drivers sitting behind him, the most notable of which has to be William Byron. We are 8 races into the season and Byron has already picked up 3 wins, so another solid performance this weekend might well see him slip into that #1 spot. For me, Byron is the biggest threat to win this weekend. He has won 2 of the last 3 races, so is obviously in form, plus he won on this Texas track last season. This is where my betting dollars will be going.

Tyler Reddick

It has been an okay start to the season for Reddick, who currently finds himself down in 9th in the driver standings. He has yet to pick up a win thus far, but he has been in the top 10 in 5 of the 8 races this season, with 2nd being his best finish. In his first 4 seasons in the Cup Series, Reddick has managed just 4 wins, 2 of which came on road courses. That said, he did pick up a win in Texas a couple of years ago, which may explain why the bookies have him in among the favorites.

Denny Hamlin

Hamlin has had to dig out from a tough start to the season where he was a non-factor in the opening 2 races. He has done a good job of that, picking up a pair of wins in the 6 races that have followed those first couple. There has still been some inconsistency, though, as he won 3 of 4, but failed to make the top 10 in the other 2 races in that stretch. He finished in the top 5 in Texas last season, so maybe more of the same in this one.

Last weekend saw the Round of 16 in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs come to an end, with the field now down to 12. We now have 3 more races to come before the next cut, which will take the number down to 8. It’s all about amassing enough points to stay alive and move on, but every driver will also be well aware that a win is an automatic ticket into the next round, which always makes for an exciting battle. This weekend, we see the action shift to the Texas Motor Speedway for the running of the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400, the first race in the Round of 12. The bookies have released the odds for this one, so let’s take a look at some of the drivers who might make an impact the NASCAR odds in Texas.

Denny Hamlin

While he didn’t need to win to make it to this point in the postseason, Hamlin still went out and got the win in the final race of the Round of 16. It may well have been that victory that propelled Hamlin to the top of the bookies board for this race, but I’m not so sure it’s where he should be. Over the last 2 seasons in Texas, Hamling finished 10th and 11th, respectively, which does not really inspire me with a whole deal of confidence when thinking about taking him to win this weekend. That said, he has been top 2 in the last 2 races, so perhaps his current form could lead to a better showing in the Lone Star State.

Kyle Larson

In any sport, the goal is simply to get to the playoffs, as you just never know what will happen when you get in. Kyle Larson had a bit of an up and down regular season, but he has upped the ante in the playoffs, finishing in the top 5 in all 3 races, which includes a pair of podium finishes in that mix. That form suggests he could be a real threat this Sunday, but you also have to consider that he won this race back in the 2021 season, which just so happened to be the year that he won the Cup Series championship. I think he is a legit threat this weekend and a great bet at these odds.

Tyler Reddick

No matter what happens from this point on, this will still go down as Reddick’s best season in the Cup Series. Prior to this season, he has made the playoffs but failed to move out of the Round of 16. If the next cut were made now, he would be into the final 8 by the skin of his teeth, so being that close to the cut line means that the pressure is on. On a positive note, he won this race in 2022, so he has to be optimistic heading into the weekend.

William Byron

There are zero guarantees in racing, but right now, you do have to say that Byron looks to be a good bet to move onto the next round given that he is sitting atop the driver standings. Byron has 4 wins this season, and with a 2nd place finish in Texas a couple of years ago, this might be the track where he could get his first win in the playoffs.
