In terms of race weekends in the Truck Series, they don’t come much bigger than what we will see in Richmond this Saturday at 7:30 PM EST. Yes, it’s the final race of the regular season in the Truck Series, after which the field of possible champions will be cut down to just 10 drivers. With 6 drivers already having won at least one race this season, their places are secured, but that also means that 4 more spots are up for grabs. Will it be one of the regular winners who takes the final race of the regular season or will someone below the cut line pull out the surprise win and move into the postseason. We will find out soon enough, but for now, let’s look at the likely favorites for the Worldwide Express 250.

It would be easy to call this a breakout season for Heim, but the fact of the matter is that a lot of us saw this coming. He raced part time in the Truck Series last year, but he still managed to win a couple of races and finish 14the overall. He has already matched his win total from 2022 and is on a run of 3 straight top 5 finishes, which includes a win a couple of weeks ago. Given that he is still somewhat new to the series, you do have to wonder if the pressure will get to him once we get into the postseason. It’s one race at a time, though, and with a top 5 finish in Richmond last year, he might just keep his top 5 streak alive.

Zane Smith

NASCAR Truck Series Odds: +275

After two straight years of finishing 2nd overall, Smith finally broke through and got the Truck Series Championship win last season. Given what we have seen from him thus far in 2023, he is not about to give up the title without a fight. Smith is sitting in 2nd overall at the moment, and while he has won a couple of races this year, those both came in the early part of the proceedings. He has struggled a little of late, but he is never a driver you can write off. He finished 9th overall in Richmond last year, but I think we can expect better on Saturday.

Christian Eckes

NASCAR Truck Series Odds: +730

Eckes has been in and out of the Truck Series for the last few years, but he has made it into the playoffs both times he raced a full season. He will be extending that run to 3 in a row, as he is currently sitting in 3rd overall and looking like a potential threat to win it all. Eckes has a pair of wins to his name this season, but it has been a few weeks since his last checkered flag. He finished in the top 10 at Richmond last season and I expect more of the same this weekend.

Grant Enfinger

NASCAR Truck Series Odds: +660

This season is following a very familiar pattern for Enfinger, who usually wins a couple of races, makes the playoffs, and then flames out relatively early. The question now is whether he can push on and make a serious run at the Truck Series Championship. He is certainly in the hunt right now, and I believe that he can be a factor this weekend, given that he finished 4th in this race last season. I might just be tempted to take him to win on Saturday.
