NBA News & Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins Close to Sign With The Clippers

Written by on April 6, 2021

At the start of the NBA season, we all thought we had a pretty clear idea as to which teams might be in the hunt for the championship. Some of those early favorites are still up there, but we also have a few dark horse teams emerging that should make things interesting. It is probably not too crazy to describe what has happened overall this season as interesting, with injuries and trade deadline moves making it even tougher to predict how things will play out this season. There are a lot of headlines and rumors circulating right now, so let’s get right into all of that now for you to keep betting against their NBA odds.

2021 NBA Betting News & Rumors April 6th Edition

Last night, we saw the Baylor Bears dominate the Gonzaga Bulldogs from start to finish in the National Championship Game. Now that the college season is officially over, we are going to start to see some of the best NCAA players declare for the draft. Marcus Bagley of Arizona State is the latest to declare that he will be heading to the draft, and while COVID and injury issues hampered his freshman season, the feeling that he still showed enough to be out there as a first round pick. There are a host of other players expected to announce for the draft in the next few days.

We have seen the LA Lakers season take a hit with injuries to both Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Every team is just one or two bad injuries away from having serious problems, which is why we are all looking at the Brooklyn Nets with some interest. Tyler Johnson is expected to be out for 2-3 weeks with a right knee injury, but the bigger area of concern is the niggling hamstring injury that James Harden is currently dealing with.  Harden missed a pair of games before returning, only to leave after 4 minutes on the court. His injury is not considered serious, but it is worth keeping an eye on.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are in the hunt for the worst record in the NBA, and while that’s not really a label that any team wants, their chances of finishing dead last may have just got better. Malik Beasley is arguably the best player they have on their squad right now, but he has just gone down with a hamstring injury that is expected to have him sidelined for 4-6 weeks. Given that schedule, that likely means that Beasley will be out for the remainder of the season.

One free agent that is now set to land on a team is DeMarcus Cousins, with the 30-year-old expected to sign with the LA Clippers on a 10-day contract. For now, Cousins is in to ensure that the Clippers have 14 signed players on the team, which is a league requirement. He does have to clear COVID protocols before joining the team and the expectation is that they will work out a longer deal once the 10-day contract comes to an end.
