There are some very good streaks going on right now, with some of the better teams in the league going through a bit of a purple patch, but how long will that last? The Long season in the NBA usually means that teams have some high and low moments, and it is limiting the poor runs that tend to separate the potential champions from the rest of the pack. Miami Heat at Orlando Magic

This is a chance for the Miami Heat to get back into the top 6 in the Eastern Conference, as they currently hold the top spot in the play-in zone. They are not, though, in the type of form that suggests they might be able to win a tough one, going just 5-5 in their last 10 games overall. They have been decent on the road, going 8-6, but a win in Orlando is still a tough ask. The Magic are sure to still be feeling the sting of losing back-to-back games to the Boston Celtics, meaning that they are now 4 games out of the top spot in the #4 spot in the East. That aside, the Magic are 11-2 in their own building this season, so can they snap out of this mini slump?

Los Angeles Clippers at Dallas Mavericks

This promises to be a good one, with both teams sitting in the top 6 in the Western Conference standings. The Clippers are very much on the move and are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now, as they have now won 8 in a row and 9 of their last 10 games. They have struggled away from home, though, going 5-7 to this point. Dallas has gone cold of late, going 6-4 in their last 10 games, which has them down in the #5 spot in the conference, albeit just a game and a half out of the #2 slot. Dallas does have a 7-5 record at home, which is not entirely convincing for a team with hopes of winning the Western Conference.

Boston Celtics at Sacramento Kings

It seems as though the Boston Celtics have spent the entire season on a great run of form, so it’s no real surprise to see them on a 5-game win streak, which means that they have now won 8 of their last 10 overall. They are coming off a big home and home win over the Orlando Magic, but this might actually be a tougher test, with the Celtics at just 6-5 in road games this season. The Kings are also playing some great ball right now, winning 3 in a row and 7 of their last 10 games. They have been particularly good in their own building, winning 10 of 13 at home this season, making this game one to watch and wager on.

When er put together these must bet games, we usually focus on the best teams in the league, but tonight, we are looking at the NBA odds and selecting a trio of games that the bookies have as potentially being close. I love the challenge of trying to decipher the winner of these types of games, as there is some real satisfaction to be found in nailing the outcome of a game that really could have gone either way. There will be no predictions in these previews, but these are the 3 games that I am taking a close look at tonight.

Atlanta Hawks at Toronto Raptors

Both of these teams are in dire need of a win, with both losing each of their last 4 games. The Hawks are currently occupying the final play-in spot in the Eastern Conference but given that they are just a half game up on the Raptors, there is the chance that we could see these teams swap spots, assuming that Toronto can take advantage of home court, where they are 6-6 this season. If the Hawks win, they will open up a little bit of breathing space, but the fact that they have just 3 wins in their last 10 games suggests that winning will be easier said than done. The Hawks have been better on the road than at home, so perhaps that plays into their favor.

Los Angeles Lakers at San Antonio Spurs

The in-season tournament proved to be a major success for the NBA, with the final drawing a large TV audience, meaning that it will likely become a permanent fixture. The LA Lakers were the surprise winner of the tournament but was that because they took it more seriously than others or because they are better than their record suggests. The Lakers are coming off a loss that moved them to 6-4 in their last 10 and are now in the #6 spot in the Western Conference. They have not been great on the road, going 4-8, which might explain why they are favored by just 1 ½ against a San Antonio Spurs team that is on a 17-game losing skid. Will that awful run of form end tonight?

Brooklyn Nets at Phoenix Suns

This is just the 4th non-conference game for the Nets this season, who will be looking to get back to .500 after going 1-2 versus teams from the West. While they are coming off a loss in their last game, the Nets have been decent of late, winning 6 of their last 10 games, although they have not been as great on the road, going 4-5 in their first 9 games. The Suns have been a little up and down this season, finding themselves in the play-in zone with a record of 13-10. They have been surprisingly mediocre at home, though, going 6-6 in their own building, but they do have a winning record of 3-2 versus teams from the East, This is another one that the bookies see as almost too close to call.

This is good news for those who didn’t really find any value in the tournament games played in the last couple of nights. We have taken a look at the Wednesday schedule to identify 3 games that we like the look of, so let’s break those matchups down right now to consider in your NBA betting plans.

Brooklyn Nets at Atlanta Hawks

We start things out with a matchup between a pair of teams currently situated in the play-in zone in the Eastern Conference. The Nets are a game ahead of the Hawks and have been playing better ball of late, winning 6 of their last 10 games. The Thunder have been brilliant on the road, winning 7 of 9, so it is going to be tough for the Rockets to take advantage of being at home for this one. That said, this is a team that has been close to impossible to knock off in their own building, going 8-1 in their home games this season. All of that makes this one an intriguing matchup.

Denver Nuggets at LA Clippers

After spending some time at the top of the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets have hit a bit of a rough patch and have been playing .500 ball over the last 10 games. They need something to jumpstart their season again, and perhaps a win on the road against the Clippers might help. While Denver has been perfect at home, they are just 5-7 on the road, so there is zero guarantee of a win here. The Clippers are still a game below .500 overall, but they have been better of late, winning 6 of their last 10 games. They have been tough to beat in their own building, going 6-3 through their opening 9 home games.

It’s not a huge night on the NBA schedule, but we still have a few games that are very much ones that we should all be taking a look at. LA Lakers at Detroit Pistons

This is not a game that would normally make this list, but there are a couple of things going on that make it more than a little intriguing. The Lakers had been playing well, winning 7 of their last 10 games, but they were totally blown out by the 76ers in their last outing, killing their chances of cracking the top 6 in the Western Conference. Over in the East, the Pistons are on a run that has seen them lose 14 straight games. That would suggest that they are looking at another beating here, but how long can that streak go on? Will the Lakers bounce back, or will Detroit snap out of this awful slump?

Philadelphia 76ers at New Orleans Pelicans

There is a fantastic battle going on in the Eastern Conference, with the top 4 teams separated by just a game and a half. The Philadelphia 76ers are in that battle, sitting in the #4 spot after that aforementioned blowout of the Lakers we just talked about. That means they have now won 2 in a row and are 5-2 in games played away from home this season. The Pelicans have been up and down all season and are in a downward skid right now, heading into Wednesday night on a 2-game losing streak, a run that has dropped them to 9-9 overall. The Pelicans have a losing record at home, going 4-5 through 9 games.

LA Clippers at Sacramento Kings

We are still waiting to see the best from the LA Clippers this season, as they are sitting at 7-9 overall, which has them sitting right below the play-in line. They are just 4-6 in their last 10 games, but they have struggled mightily on the road, winning just twice in 8 attempts away from home. The Kings are on a solid run of form at the moment, winning 8 of their last 10 games, which includes each of their last 2. That has them sitting in the top 6, just 2 ½ games out of the top spot in the Western Conference. They have been particularly solid in their own building, going 5-1 in home games this season.
