Stated correctly, we are now in the regional semi-finals in the NCAAB tournament, but we all know and refer to this stage of the tournament as the Sweet 16. All of the #1 seeds are still alive and well, but will they be that way once we come to the end of play on Friday night? The pressure is getting ramped up with each passing round, and those easy wagers in the opening couple of rounds are becoming a little tougher to track down. We are going to be looking at the Sweet 16 to see if we can find some winning SU, ATS, and O/U wagers, so let’s jump right in and start with the March Madness Betting SU picks.

Michigan Wolverines (-125) over Texas Tech Red Raiders

What we have here are a pair of teams who know how to play defensive basketball. The Texas Tech Red Raiders have given up just 57 ½ PPG through the opening two rounds, which included holding the potent Buffalo Bulls offense to just 58 points.

Michigan has been even better on the defensive side of the court through their opening 2 games of the tournament, holding the opposition to just 52 PPG. This has all the makings of a close one, but I like the experience that Michigan brings to the table after going all the way to the title game last season.

Tennessee Volunteers (-125) over Purdue Boilermakers

Rather than just going with obvious favorites for our SU picks, we are going with games that are expected to be a little bit tighter. The goal here is to find some value in these picks, so let’s start with the South Region game between Tennessee and Purdue.

Tennessee is one of the favorites to win at the 2019 March Madness Sweet 16 Round.

The Boilermakers have made it through the opening two rounds without breaking too much of a sweat, but this one is going to be a whole lot different. It may well be the battle of the boards that wins this one, which is where I think Tennessee has the edge. If the Vols can slow down the Boilermakers from beyond the arc, they win this one and move on.

Kentucky Wildcats (-165) over Houston Cougars

For our final SU pick, we head over to the Midwest Region, where #2 Kentucky will face off against #3 Houston. This is uncharted territory for the Cougars, as it is the first time in 35 years that they have found themselves in the Sweet 16.

If the Wildcats win this one and move on, it will be the 7th time they have landed in the Elite 8 since 2010. Yes, the players change a lot over the years, but it’s also tough to bet against history. This should be a close one, but I have Kentucky edging it.
