Six Teams that Are Peaking as Profitable 2019 March Madness Picks

#1 Gonzaga Bulldogs

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +650

A favorite to win the Big Dance, Gonzaga has been decent against the spread, going 20-11 overall. The Zags should start their Final Four quest the overall 1-seed, meaning they’ll get the best draw of all four 1-seeds.

They haven’t lost since North Carolina beat them by 13 in Chapel Hill back on Dec. 15. It’s hard to even remember what happened last December, right?

# 2 Virginia Cavaliers

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +750

At 27-2, the only team to have beaten Virginia is rival Duke. The Blue Devils don’t show up on this list because they might have to play the NCAA Tournament without Zion Williamson. Even if Zion plays, the Selection Committee should keep UVA and the Dookies away from each other until at least the Final Four. The Cavaliers are 5-0 SU and ATS heading into their final regular season game against Louisville on March 9.

#3 North Carolina Tar Heels

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +1200
Third-ranked North Carolina dropped a game to Virginia 61-69 on Feb. 11, but since then they’ve been on fire. They’ve won 6 in a row beating Duke, Florida State, and Syracuse in 3 of the 6 victories. Also, doesn’t Luke Maye give the impression he’s going to dominate during the NCAA Tournament?

#4 Tennessee Volunteers

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +1000

There was a moment where it looked like the Volunteers might end up third in the SEC. Tennessee had lost 2-of-3, to rivals Kentucky and LSU. Since then, the Vols have been dominant, running off 3 wins straight up and against the spread over Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.

Tennessee rides a lot of momentum into both their final regular season game against Auburn and the SEC Tournament. If they win the SEC Tournament, it’s hard to see the Vols not grabbing a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

#6 Kentucky Wildcats

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +1200

Although Tennessee made Kentucky look silly on March 2, the Wildcats bounced back with a decent win over Ole Miss. Kentucky hasn’t played well against the spread in their last 3. Everything should be okay after they beat Florida on March 9. If they have a good SEC Tournament, making it to the finals, they should be considered a top dog heading into the NCAA Tournament.

#8 Texas Tech Red Raiders

  • 2019 College Basketball Championship Odds: +2200

Kansas dominated Texas Tech 79-63 on Feb. 2, but right now the Red Raiders are the hottest team in the Big 12 while Kansas has been cold. Texas Tech has won 8 in a row, including beating Kansas 91-62 on Feb. 23. They’re 7-1 ATS in their last 8 and will win the Big 12 Regular Season and probably the Big 12 Tournament.

Pay attention to Texas Tech once the Big Dance starts. They could provide great profit in the NCAA Tournament.
