NCAAF 2020 Season Week 8 SU Picks Expert Analysis

Written by on October 21, 2020

It was always going to be interesting to see how this college football season played out. We had the Power 5 all starting at different times, players opting out of the season, and no fans in the stands. It was impossible to predict how teams would adapt to the new season, and from what we have seen thus far, there are a few who are having some problems. We have seen a lot of surprise results through the opening 7 weeks and will likely see many more before all is said and done. The Big Ten will return to play this weekend, so that may well shake things up even further. For the purposes of this piece, we will be making some SU picks for Week 8, but we will also have ATS and O/U picks coming, so be sure to watch out for those. That said, let’s get right to it so you can wager on their NCAAF odds.

Auburn Tigers over Ole Miss Rebels

One team that has had trouble adapting to the new season is the Auburn Tigers, who are now just 2-2 on the year after losing to the South Carolina Gamecocks last weekend. Playing an SEC team every week is certainly brutal, but it’s what every team in the conference is required to do this season. This week, Auburn will be up against an Ole Miss Rebels team that is in the very early stages of the Lane Kiffin era. They have, at times, looked great on the offensive side of the football, but it is also clear that the new head coach has some work to do to get this team back near the top. Auburn has won 8 of their last 10 meetings against the Rebels, and while they are struggling this season, I also think they win this one.

Florida State Seminoles over Louisville Cardinals

The Florida State Seminoles are a long way off from the team that was competing for national championships not so very long ago, but they are finally beginning to show some signs of life this season. They have now won 2 of 3, including a shock win over the North Carolina Tar Heels last weekend. This week, they will go up against a Louisville Cardinals team that is really struggling at 1-4 on the season. Their defense, which had been leaky through the opening 5 games of the season, played a whole lot better versus Notre Dame in Week 7, but they still lost 12-7 in that one. Both teams need a win, but I think it will be the Seminoles who come away with it.

Boston College Eagles over Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

After opening the season with back to back wins, and looking quite good in the process, the Boston College Eagles now just have 1 win in their last 3 games. They will be looking to get back on track this weekend against a Georgia Tech team that is sure to still be reeling after having 73 points dropped on them by the Clemson Tigers. Tech have now won just 5 games in their last 19, although they have had the best of this matchup, winning 4 of their last 6 against the Eagles. That aside, I still like Boston College to get the job done in their own building.
