Analysis:
NC State Wolfpack (4-3 SU, 5-2 ATS) got smacked around by Louisville in their humbling 54-13 loss on Saturday, just one week after giving No. 3 Clemson a very tough way to go. Still, I think the Wolfpack are the pick to get past a Boston College (3-4 SU, 3-4 ATS) team that has lost two in a row and three of its last five games overall including Saturday’s 28-20 loss against mediocre Syracuse.
The Eagles allowed Syracuse signal-caller Eric Dungey to pass for an impressive 434 yards and toss three touchdown passes in their most recent loss and have only managed to beat overmatched lowly Buffalo and Wagner over their last five games. NC State let Louisville superstar signal-caller Lamar Jackson pretty much have his way against their defense this past weekend, but Jackson has done that to just about everyone this season, so I say there’s no shame in that.
Of more significance is the fact that Boston College has gone an uninspiring 1-4 ATS over its last five games while NC State has posted a polar-opposite 4-1 ATS mark over in its last five games. These longtime ACC rivals have split the last four meetings evenly, but NC State won last season 24-8 despite being on the road. To get right to the point, I like this season’s matchup to end up in a similar fashion. North Carolina State wins convincingly!
