Written by on October 15, 2020

With Week 7 of the 2020 NCAA college football season on hand, it’s time to take a look at the most recent ‘winners and loses’ among this week’s national Top 25. While a handful of teams improved their hopes of potentially reaching this season’s College Football Playoffs, other championship hopefuls saw their own national championship hopes take a big hit. Now, let’s find out which Top 25 teams ‘won and lost’ last weekend so you can place your bets against their NCAAF odds

NCAAF Top 25 Rankings: Winners & Losers | College Football Betting

Winners

No. 1 Clemson (4-0)

Top-ranked Clemson was a ‘winner’ in Week 6 because of their emphatic 42-17 smackdown over previously unbeaten Miami. While the Canes entered last week’s ACC clash with some legitimate playoff hopes, the Tigers extinguished them as Trevor Lawrence threw three TD passes and Travis Etienne rushed for 149 and two scores.

No. 5 North Carolina (3-0)

The Tar Heels moved up the national rankings by beating Virginia Tech 56-45 on Saturday by rushing for a mind-boggling 399 yards. Quarterback Sam Howell passed for 257 yards with three TD tosses and no picks while running back Michael Carter rushed for 214 yards and two scores while fellow back Javonte Williams added 169 rushing yards and another two scores.

No. 11 Texas A&M (2-1)

The Aggies bounced back from their Week 5 loss against Alabama to beat previously unbeaten Florida 41-38 last weekend as quarterback Kellen Mond passed for 312 yards and three touchdowns while running back Isaiah Spiller added a stellar 175 rushing yards and two scores. Texas A&M has a mediocre defense, but the Aggies can clearly put points on the board against anyone.

Losers

No. 13 Miami (3-1)

Previously unbeaten Miami saw their CFP hopes dashed in their embarrassing 42-17 blowout loss against No. 1 Clemson on Saturday as quarterback D’Eriq King was held to just 121 passing yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. The Canes might be good, but Clemson exposed them as a team that is definitely not great!

No. 2 Alabama (3-0)

Second-ranked Alabama might have beaten Ole Miss last weekend, but the Crimson Tide were ‘losers’ to me seeing as how they got exposed defensively in allowing the Rebels to put a whopping 48 points on the board. Now, the rest of Alabama’s opponents this season know how to attack Alabama’s defense – and that doesn’t bode well for Nick Saban’s team moving forward.

No. 10 Florida (2-1)

Florida was looking great – until suffering a crushing 41-38 road loss against now, No. 11 Texas A&M. While quarterback Kyle Trask had a fantastic game by passing for 312 yards with four TD passes and no picks, Florida’s defense gave up 338 passing yards and three TD passes to Texas A&M signal-caller Kellen Mond while allowing Isaiah Spiller to rush for 174yards and two scores.

No. 18 Tennessee (2-1)

Now, 18th in the national rankings, Tennessee saw their own national championship hopes squashed in their humbling 44-21 blowout loss against No. 3 Georgia on Saturday. The Vols took a 21-17 lead over the Dawgs into the half – before getting shut out in the second half.

No. 23 Virginia Tech (2-1)

The Hokies were on the wrong end of a crushing 56045 road loss at North Carolina last weekend while giving up almost 400 rushing yards in the loss. While running back Khalil Herbert rushed for 138 yards and two scores, Virginia Tech clearly has some serious issues on defense.
