Written by on September 23, 2019

The Los Angeles Chargers might be off to a slow start that hasn’t lived up to their Super Bowl hopes so far, but the Bolts will almost assuredly have no problems in getting past the awful Miami Dolphins when the two AFC rivals square off in their Week 4 matchup this coming Sunday. While the Bolts look like the easy pick to get the SU win this coming weekend, let’s find out right now if the Chargers can cover the big spread as two-touchdown-plus road favorites.

Why Bet On the LA Chargers at -16.5?

The best reasons to bet on the Chargers is that they’ll have some desperation coming into this Week 4 contest, combined with the fact that the Dolphins are completely and utterly awful. The Bolts come into this contest off a humbling 27-20 Week 3 home loss against Houston despite the fact that veteran quarterback Philip Rivers passed for 318 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. The Chargers gave up three TD passes and 351 passing yards to Deshaun Watson while allowing Rivers to get sacked a whopping five times in the loss.

Why Be On Miami at +16.5?

The best reasons to bet on Miami are the facts that the Dolphins are playing at home and completely and utterly desperate after dropping their first three games in emphatic fashion this season. Miami got smacked around in their 31-16 loss to Dallas in Sunday, but they also looked better than they have all season in the first half with quarterback Josh Rosen under center. The former first round draft pick for Arizona last season finished with 200 passing yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions, but the Fins were limited to just 72 rushing yards in the loss while allowing the ‘Boys to rack up an impressive 235 yards on the ground.

Chargers vs Dolphins Expert Analysis and Prediction

While a surprising 58 percent of public bettors like the Dolphins to cover the big spread in this Week 4 matchup, I’m going on record to say the same thing I said about Miami heading into their Week 3 matchup against Dallas a 21-point underdogs. I have absolutely no faith in the Dolphins to cover any point spread right now and even though they looked semi-competent in the first half against Dallas last weekend, I’m fully expecting the Chargers to put their collective feet on Miami’s neck to get the convincing win in this contest.

I know the Chargers are an awful 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings against the Dolphins and a winless 0-4 ATS in their last four road dates against Miami, but the Dolphins are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in September and 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall. Outside of the key trends surrounding this contest, the Chargers are by far, the better team on both sides of the ball and I like the Bolts to win and cover the chalk.

Pick: Chargers 31 Dolphins 14
