While the NFL offseason is long, it does always feel as though there is something going on in the world of football. No sooner does the season end than we start to see hirings, firings, and players being cut while others think about dipping their toes into the free agent market. What we are really going to be talking about here is about NFL Draft betting predictions and how to determine the pick for any game that you are sure will win.
There is zero guarantee that you will be correct, but that is the possibility for every single bet that you make.
NFL Draft Top Picks Preview and Prediction
Just when it feels as though it is all beginning to settle down, the NFL Draft arrives, and a new flurry of moves is made by teams looking to get better than they were last season.
There may not be any action on the field, but the Draft is always something to get excited about. We are now just 2 weeks away from the Draft, which starts on April 24-26, so let’s break it all down now.
Current Betting Odds for the 1st Overall Pick
More often than not, it is a quarterback that is taken with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, so don’t be surprised if we see that again in 2025.
That said, it does all come down to what a team really needs, but when a team is in the position to be picking first overall, it usually does mean that they are lacking an elite player under center.
Current odds for the 1st overall pick in the NFL Draft
- Cam Ward -10000
- Abdul Carter +1600
- Shedeur Sanders +3500
- Travis Hunter +4000
So, as you can see, it does seem as though we are going to have a QB going 1st overall once again, with former Miami Hurricane, Cam Ward, expected to be the first player selected in the draft. If he is indeed the player to go first, where is he likely to land?
^NFL Draft Betting Predictions: Which Teams Hold the Top Picks?
On the one hand, it is great for teams to have the top few picks in the Draft, but the reality is that picking at or near the top means that a team is coming off a nightmare season and needs some real help.
Even with the top pick, a team is still likely to need many more pieces before they can consider themselves to be competitive again.
Let’s also not forget that picking 1st overall is no guarantee of getting a great player, as history has shown that busts are indeed a thing.
Order of picks for the Top 5
- Tennessee Titans
- Cleveland Browns
- New York Giants
- New England Patriots
- Jacksonville Jaguars
Okay, so the odds would suggest that Cam Ward will indeed be a member of the Tennessee Titans next season, as that is a team in dire need of a QB to fuel their rebuild.
Ward is considered by most to be the top QB in the draft, but what are the other options?
^Top QB Prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft
There are a pair of QBs considered to be above the rest in this Draft, but as we have seen in the past, it is often the guys who get picked a little later who end up having a great NFL career. Here are the top 5 QBs in the Draft, according to all the experts:
Cam Ward
This young man has used the portal to go from Incarnate Word to Washington State, and then to Miami, excelling in each stop along the way.
If there is a knock against Ward, it’s that he can be a little careless when throwing the football, but that is something that can be fixed.
^Shedeur Sanders
His father is a legend of the game, and it appears as though some of that Primetime cockiness has rubbed off on the son. There are some who see that flashy style as a potential problem, but don’t you want your starting QB to be a little cocky?
^Jalen Milroe
There are some who believe that Milroe has all the tools required to be a standout player in the NFL. He is a dual-threat player that can hurt opponents with his arms and legs. The feeling is that he could fall outside the first round, but that remains to be seen.
^Kyle McCord
It says something about this QB draft class that we might only see 2 of them go in the First Round. McCord is another one that could potentially drop in Round 2.
^Jaxson Dart
If another QB does go in Round 1, there are some experts who believe that Dart could be the one, with the Pittsburgh Steelers seen as a potential destination.

Let’s Talk About Elite Playmakers in the 2025 NFL Draft
It is the quarterbacks that get a ton of attention on Draft Day, and while they are an essential part of the team, they also need to be surrounded by playmakers who can help them reach their potential.
There are plenty of big playmakers in this year’s draft, on both sides of the football, some of whom will be viewed as more valuable to teams that already feel as though they have their QB in place.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at a few players that are sure to be picked in Round 1:
^Wide Receivers & Running Backs to Watch at the NFL Draft
Ashton Jeanty
While running backs are not as valuable a commodity as they were a decade or so ago, every team still needs an elite rusher on their team. Jeanty very much fits that bill.
Tetairoa McMillan
Every QB needs reliable targets to throw the ball to, and some team is going to get a very good one when they draft McMillan, who proved himself to be a total baller in his time with Arizona.
Tyler Warren
While Warren does not fall into the WR or RB category, he is still likely to be among the top picks, as every team in the league needs a reliable tight end, not only to receive the ball, but also to deliver blocks that open up the offense.
^The Game-Changers on the Other Side of the Ball: Top Edge Rushers, Linebackers & Cornerbacks
Every team wants to have an explosive offense at their disposal, but if you are to believe the old cliché, then it is defense that wins championships.
With that in mind, there are going to be some great defensive players selected in the opening round, so let’s take a look at a few of them:
Abdul Carter
The best way to slow down an opposing QB is to get after him and get him on his back. A great edge rusher can do that, and they don’t come much better in that position than Carter.
Jalon Walker
Georgia has become a machine in cranking out players that are ready to step into any NFL team and play on Day 1. Walker is another one from the Bulldog production line and will almost certainly wreak havoc on QBs in the league.
Travis Hunter
You cannot go wrong with a strong secondary and players who can make big plays, which is exactly what they will get with Travis Hunter, who posted some ridiculous numbers in his college career. He will almost certainly be in the top 5 picks this year.
The players that we have mentioned on both sides of the football are going to be in high demand, so it is going to be a ton of fun to watch teams scramble to get the player they want.
Expect to see some teams trade up or down, which will potentially cause a ripple effect among the teams sitting below.
^NFL Draft Prop Bets to Watch
Now that we have broken things down, you might well now have some idea as to how things might play out in the 2025 NFL Draft.
That said, there are always some surprises along the way, which makes for some potentially great prop bets. Let’s take a look at a few of them:
Number of QBs Drafted In Round 1
Okay, so I think we can safely say that there will be 2 QBs taken in the opening round of the Draft, but will there be more?
The mock drafts are all over the place, but the magic number seems to be 3. Will it be over or under that number?
Exact Playing Position
Another fun way to go with prop bets is to focus on the team that you follow. You can wager on individual teams and the player that they might draft first.
If you know your team, you know their weaknesses and requirements, so you might well know which position they will draft first.
Mr. Irrelevant
You cannot have some fun with prop bets at the NFL Draft without taking a chance on the player that you believe will be selected dead last.
I would not spend a ton of money on this play, but it’s a little bit of fun and a great way to close out the Draft.
