Giants vs Buccaneers 2019 NFL Week 4 Odds, Game Info & Prediction

Written by on September 19, 2019

To say that Week 2 of the NFL season was eventful might be putting things a little too mildly. We saw Antonio Brown make his debut for the Patriots in another convincing win for the defending Super Bowl champions, while also seeing the New York Jets reduced to playing their 3rd string QB. While those two pieces of news were big, it was bigger, worse news for both the New Orleans Saints and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The saints will be without Drew Brees for at least 5 weeks, while the Steelers lost the services of Ben Roethlisberger for the season.

It was certainly not a good week to be a starting QB, and that was very much the case in the other side of New York, with the announcement coming that Eli manning will be consigned to the sidelines, with rookie Daniel Jones set to be under center for the Giants. It will be a tough start for the young man, as he will be on the road in hostile territory to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa is favored by 6 ½, with the point total set at 47.5.

Why bet on the New York Giants?

You always felt that the writing was on the wall for Manning after Daniel Jones looked so impressive in his time on the field in the preseason. With the Giants off to an 0-2 start and the offense misfiring, the coaching staff decided that the time to make the change was now, while the season was still there to be saved.

Manning is going to be the fall guy here, but he was in a tough situation in both games, with the Giants defense surrendering 36 points to Dallas in Week 1 and 28 more in a loss to the Buffalo Bills last week. Those defeats mean that the Giants have now lost 5 straight games after losing 3 in a row to end last year. On the plus side, they are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 on the road and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 trips to Tampa.

  • Total Yards: 304.8
  • Turnovers: 1.20

Why bet on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started the season as a 1-point favorite at home to the san Francisco 49ers, but they were completely dominated in a 31-17 loss. The bookies did not really fancy their chances in Week 2, which saw the Bucs head out on the road for an NFC South rivalry game against the Carolina Panthers.

Giants vs Buccaneers is not going to be a close one.

Tampa started that one as a 6 ½ point underdog, but they won that one 20-14 on Thursday night. The little bit of extra rest might actually benefit the Buccaneers in this one, and they will certainly like their chances going against a rookie QB. Tampa Bay has not been good in Week 3, losing in each of the last 7 seasons. They are also 5-12 SU in their last 17 games versus teams from the NFC East.

  • Pass Attempts: 34.60
  • Completion Percentage: 54.05
  • Passing Yards: 205.40
  • Total Yards: 300.9

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Giants vs Buccaneers

While I certainly believe that Daniel Jones will be a very capable QB in this league, it’s never easy to step in and be great right away. It doesn’t help that the Giants D has been porous through the opening 2 weeks, which is why I like Tampa to win and cover.
