It has been a long few weeks for the Jacksonville Jaguars. After starting off the season well, things came to a screeching halt as the Jags lost five straight games. Last week, Jacksonville was able to break its losing streak by defeating the Las Vegas Raiders 27-20.

Just when things started looking up for them, now they have to head to Kansas City to take on one of the best NFL teams in the league in the Kansas City Chiefs.

After last week’s tough win over the Tennessee Titans in overtime, the Chiefs have won two straight. They’re sitting atop the AFC West with a 6-2 record. The Chiefs have the highest-scoring offense in the league, along with a defense that has held its own throughout the season.

We should be in for a good one in Kansas City on Sunday. Let’s take a brief look at both teams, and then we’ll give you our NFL Betting prediction for this AFC showdown.

Can the Jaguars Slow Down the High-Powered Chiefs Offense?

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars may be the most inconsistent team in the league. At times they look like they’re ready to make a playoff run, while at other times, they look like a team destined to have a top pick in the upcoming draft. Much of this is due to the erratic play of quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence has had many good moments, along with a lot of bad moments. We’re yet to see if he is going to be one of the top QBs in the league, but at times, he has shown that he can be one of the best.

Lawrence has two big weapons at his disposal, as free agent signee Christian Kirk has become his favorite target. Now that James Robinson is in New York, the backfield belongs to Travis Etienne, Jr. Since he has taken over the starting role, he has had two huge games for the Jaguars.

Defensively, they will need to be on their game to stop the Chiefs. Quietly, this defense has put together a nice season. If the Colts and Titans‘ defenses can hold this offense to just 17 points, the Jags’ defense should be able to contain the high-powered offense.

Kansas City Chiefs

When Tyreek Hill was traded, many felt that the Chiefs‘ offense wouldn’t be as powerful. That hasn’t been the case. Patrick Mahomes has been spreading the wealth, and this offense looks to be as good as ever.

They’ll have a tough test against a good Jacksonville defense, but Andy Reid always seems to find new ways to score points.

Defensively, the Chiefs have had a nice season. The defense was always the scapegoat when the Chiefs didn’t win the big games; that can’t be said to be the case anymore.

Kansas City has a nice pass rush, and the secondary has improved through the draft and free agency. We’ll see if the pass rush gives Lawrence issues on Sunday.

Prediction

The line has moved on this one, and the Chiefs are now 10-point favorites. In each of Jacksonville’s losses this season, the Jags have only lost by one-score.

We think this trend won’t continue on Sunday, as the Chiefs will win by 14.
