The Philadelphia Eagles will play a New York team for the second week in a row, as the Eagles will travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Jets. The Eagles are hoping that they have a little more success against this New York team, as last week they dropped a game to the Giants, ending their two-game winning streak. The Jets are coming off of a victory over the Houston Texans and will be looking to start a winning streak of their own. With that in mind, let’s check out our NFL Betting analysis for the upcoming match between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets.
NFL Betting Preview for Philadelphia Eagles at New York
Philadelphia Eagles Betting Analysis
The Eagles were playing some good football until they ran into the Giants. Jalen Hurts had one of his worst games of the season, and the Eagles’ offense just couldn’t get anything going. Hurts threw three interceptions, and Philadelphia was only able to muster seven points, with those coming in the 4th quarter. They’ll try to have a better offensive plan against the lowly defense of the New York Jets.
Devonta Smith and Jalen Reagor haven’t been as productive as they were early in the season. Combine that with Philadelphia’s lack of a running game (other than Hurts who is the team’s leading rusher), and it’s a recipe for a poor offense.
As for the Eagles’ defense, they’ve given up their fair share of points this season. If their offense can’t put up more points, it’ll be a rough go for the Philly squad.
New York Jets Betting Analysis
The Jets defense is giving up over 30 points per game, while their offense isn’t even able to muster up 20 points per contest. That’s all you need to know about the Jets season thus far. While rookie first-rounder Zach Wilson has missed some time due to injury, he came back last week to lead the Jets to a victory over the Houston Texans. While his stats weren’t impressive, a win is a win, so the New York faithful were happy.
Robert Saleh was hired to help fix New York’s defense, but that hasn’t been the case this season. The Jets are one of, if not the worst defense in the league this season. One of the main goals of this offseason will be to improve that unit. Look for the Jets to use their top draft picks to improve the defensive unit, and they’ll also have a lot of salary cap space to shore up the defensive side of the ball.
Prediction
Philadelphia comes into this one as a seven-point favorite. That doesn’t really speak well for the Eagles, it’s more because of how bad the Jets are. New York’s offense has been really inconsistent this season, and Wilson has made a lot of rookie mistakes at the quarterback position.
The Jets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six December games. While that stat may give bettors hope, we’re not going to jump on board. Even though Philadelphia had a clunker last week, we’re looking for them to bounce back this week and have a good game. The Eagles will head to New Jersey and beat the Jets 24-14, claiming an outright victory, and covering the spread in the process.
