2022 Stanley Cup Odds Betting Analysis Update: We’re Down to 3 Contenders

Even though it was a short series, the Colorado Avalanche vs. the Edmonton Oilers was a fun series to watch. Both teams put on some great offensive displays, and we got to see some of hockey’s brightest stars in action. Since the Avalanche swept the Oilers, they now have plenty of time to sit back, relax, and wait to see who will come out of the Eastern Conference.

After Tampa Bay won Game 4 by a score of 4-1, that series is now tied at two games apiece. We have a feeling that this one is going to go the full seven games. Right now, the NHL has yet to announce when the Stanley Cup Finals will begin, but two dates that are being thrown around are June 15th and June 18th.

We know that Colorado is definitely in the Finals, but who will join them? Will it be the New York Rangers or the Tampa Bay Lightning? Let’s take a brief look at all three teams, and we’ll give you our take on why any of the three could be hoisting Lord Stanley’s Cup.

And We’re Down to Three in the Stanley Cup Playoffs | NHL Betting Analysis

Who’s Got The Best Chance to Win the Cup?

  • Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche were one of the best teams during the regular season. They had a high-scoring offense, backed by a very good defense. Throughout the Stanley Cup playoffs, their stars have played like stars. Nathan MacKinnon and Cole Makar are both in the running for the Conn Smythe.

Their depth has played a huge role in their success throughout the playoffs. They have been playing with their backup goaltender for much of the playoffs. When the stars haven’t played well, the second and third lines have come through.

This team has shown that it can adapt to any situation, and with the way they’ve been playing in the playoffs, they’re going to be hard to stop.

  • New York Rangers

While the offense has gotten a lot of notoriety throughout the playoffs, Igor Shesterkin could be the main reason that the Rangers are where they are. He has the best save percentage among all remaining goalies. We all know that when you have a hot goalie, it’s hard to beat a team. Granted, he gave up four goals against the Lightning last night, but he’ll bounce back.

The Rangers have the top two point-scorers remaining in the playoffs, as Mika Zivanejad has 24, while Adam Fox has 23. These two have been phenomenal throughout the playoffs, and if they advance, Colorado is going to have to figure out a way to slow them down.

There’s a mystique in Madison Square Garden. With the raucous Ranger fans, and just knowing that you’re in the “World’s Most Famous Arena”, it’s hard to win there if you’re the visiting team.

  • Tampa Bay Lighting

We all know that the Lightning are on a quest to win their third straight Stanley Cup. This team has a ton of star power with plenty of playoff experience. If they get hot, look out, because this team is capable of scoring goals in bunches.

We also can’t forget to mention Andrei Vasilevskiy . He has been a huge part of their last two Stanley Cups. Although he hasn’t been as dominant in these playoffs as he was in the last two, he still is capable of dominating a series. He shut down the league’s top offense, the Florida Panthers, in their second-round series. If he can stop them, he can stop anyone.
