EURO 2024 Betting Odds: Group C Favorite to Move on, Upset and Surprises

The clock continues to tick down toward the start of the 2024 European Championships, with debates already raging among fans and bettors about who might come away with the win.

EURO 2024 Group C Odds: A Look at Euro Group C Betting Lines

My Analysis for Group C

There are a lot of people, me included, looking at France, while other think England are the most gifted team across the board. The road to the final very much starts in the group stage and the final standings there will help determine the path that every team will need to take through the knockout phase. Finishing first in the group creates an easier path, but the fact of the matter is that once we get to the Round of 16, it all becomes a bit of a crapshoot. Let’s continue our previews by taking a closer look at Group C.

Slovenia EuroCup Line +1100

History suggests that this could prove to be a tough tournament for Slovenia, as they failed to win a game in their one and only trip to the Euros in 2000. While they are the rank outsiders in this group, they could still pose a threat. Slovenia made it through qualifying with 7 wins and 22 points, both of which were personal bests for this nation. Their build-up games have been pretty decent, too, with wins over Portugal and the USA in their last 5 games. Still, this seems like it will be a tough group for them to get out of, and I don’t see them moving on.

Denmark EuroCup Line +400

When you talk about the European Championships, there are a couple of major upsets that immediately come to mind. Greece winning it was a stunner, but perhaps not as surprising as when Denmark did it back in 1992. They failed to qualify for that tournament, but they were granted access after Yugoslavia was removed due to the civil war raging in that country. The Danes stunned everyone, but have had very little success since, making it to the knockout round just twice in the following tournaments. I think they can add to that number this year, though, as I like them to take 2nd in the group.

Serbia EuroCup Line +790

You can argue that Serbia landed in one of the easier groups in qualifying, but they still had to settle for 2nd behind Hungary to get here. They have had a mixed bag of results in their build up for this tournament. Their most recent win came against Sweden, where they looked very good in a 3-0 win, but they also surrendered 4 goals to Russia in another warm-up game. On their day, the Serbs have a team that can cause anyone trouble, but they are just a little too inconsistent for me. They could potentially grab one of the 3rd place spots to move on, but I am not sold on them.

England EuroCup Line -260

Like I said at the top of this piece, England is a team that should be challenging for the championship in this tournament. Their entire squad is loaded to brimming with talented players that are among the best in the world at each position, yet they never seem to be able to translate that to tournament success. England did make it to the final in the previous Euros, losing to Italy on penalties in that one. If they don’t make a similar run here, it could be the end of the road for Gareth Southgate.

The Germany great passed away aged 78 in January, having lifted the European Championship and World Cup as a player, and the latter as a coach.
