ATP 2023 BOSS Open Betting Analysis and Odds Favorites

The 2023 BOSS Open is an ATP 250-level grass court tournament in Stuttgart, Germany. The main draw began on June 12 and runs until June 18. It’s the first grass court event of the season as players gear up for Wimbledon in July.

The tournament was played on clay until 2018. Roger Federer won that year and subsequent winners include Marin Cilic and Matteo Berrettini, who won in 2019 and 2022. Berrettini is the No. 7 seed in this year’s tournament. Stefanos Tsitsipas, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Hubert Hurkacz are the top seeds. Alexander Zverev was expected to play as the home crowd favorite, but withdrew after an extended run at the French Open.

Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming BOSS Open tournament so you can bet against the ATP lines.

Benjamin Bonzi (+220) vs. Tommy Paul (-275)

American Tommy Paul is 2-0 in his career against Benjamin Bonzi and will look to stay perfect in an attempt to get into the Round of 16 in Stuttgart. Paul, who is ranked a career-best world No. 16, lost in the second round of the French Open. He’s a much better grasscourt player, however, with a career 13-8 record.

Bonzi, who made two finals this season, is 18-7 on grass in the last two years. This will be the first match between the two players on grass.

Gregorie Barrere (+110) vs. Oscar Otte (-138)

Without Zverev in the draw, the German crowd will be fully behind Oscar Otte as he hopes to become the first German player to win in Stuttgart since Michael Stich in 1991. Germans are 0-4 in the BOSS Open finals since then.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t been a very good season for Otte, who is just 5-11 this season and well outside of the top-100 at world No. 141. He was a career-best world No. 36 in 2022. Gregorie Barrere, meanwhile, is 12-12 this season and up to No. 58.

Barrere beat Otte 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 in the only prior meeting between the two players in France. Otte would love to return the favor in front of his home fans, but Barrere is probably the best bet for Tuesday’s match.

Denis Shapovalov (-163) vs. Marton Fucsovics (+130)

Canadian Denis Shapovalov arrived on the ATP Tour four years back with plenty of hype but hasn’t really been able to live up to those lofty expectations. He has just one title and hasn’t been ranked among the top 10 since September 2020. He’s just 9-10 this season. Marton Fucsovics is 11-12 this season and is coming off of a three-set loss to Novak Djokovic in the Round of 64 at Roland Garros.

Shapovalov and Fucsovics have played twice, with each player winning a match. Fucsovics beat the Canadian in the first round of the 2020 Australian Open, while Shapovalov beat Fucsocivcs in the Round of 32 in Dubai in 2022. Shapovalov’s favorite surface is grass, although he was just 1-4 on grass in 2022. He was 9-3 on the surface the year prior.
