The Unbeatable Parlay: A UEFA Longshot, a CONCACAF Underdog, and a CONMEBOL Surprise

The Unbeatable Parlay: A UEFA Longshot, a CONCACAF Underdog, and a CONMEBOL Surprise

The domestic leagues across Europe have just started their new seasons, but it’s already time for a break. It’s an important one, though, as there will still be football to watch and wager on, this time of the international variety. The World Cup is coming our way next year and qualifying games are going to be at the forefront over the next couple of weeks. If you are into soccer betting, a World Cup qualifiers parlay is always a great way to go.

For the purposes of this piece, we are going to look at 3 different federations – UEFA, CONCACAF, and CONMEBOL – picking one game in each to ass to a high-value parlay ticket, so let’s get started.

The Global Strategy: Why Betting Across Confederations is the Smart Play

When you stick with one Federation, especially a popular one like UEFA, you are competing with millions of bettors for the same little nugget of value. Expanding your football horizons means finding lines that are somewhat softer due to a lack of attention from the betting public. With that in mind, our goal here is to put together a soccer parlay with a leg in each federation during the World Cup qualifiers.

Leg #1: The UEFA Longshot

This is the first matchday in UEFA World Cup qualifying, so we can expect a lot of tight games, as teams do not want to put themselves in a hole after the opening game. You also have teams going on the road for Game 1 looking to get something out of it, which could mean parking the bus in an attempt to pick up an unexpected point. With that in mind, I am looking at Scotland (+500) going on the road to face Denmark in the group opener. For me, the Scots are a good UEFA longshot because they tend to travel well and are solid in defense. Taking them to win would certainly fall under the longshot category, so it might be a safer bet to take them to draw, which is currently listed at +250.

Leg #2: The CONCACAF Underdog

We head to CONCACAF next to add a home team that is in as the underdog in their matchup. Trinidad & Tobago are hosting Curacao in their qualifier and are currently listed at +220 to win. These teams have met twice before, and it was the home team winning each time. Trinidad is ranked 15 places behind their Matchday 1 rival, but I still think they are good enough to get a result at home, which is why we are adding them to our soccer accumulator.

Leg #3: The CONMEBOL Surprise

So, we have picked a road dog and a home underdog, so let’s now look at the O/U in CONMEBOL qualifying. For this one, I am looking at Colombia versus Bolivia, where the total is set at 3 ½ goals. That, for me, is a little bit on the high side, especially when you consider that their last 5 meetings have fallen under that total. Not the greatest odds for this one, but a good addition to our South American betting tips.
