2023 Rolex Shanghai Masters Top 3 Odds

The ATP 1000 Rolex Shanghai Masters returns this week for the first time since 2019 and features a unique twist. The field for this year’s tournament has been expanded to 96 players, meaning the top 32 seeds receive a bye into the second round.

Qualifying began over the weekend, and first-round action begins on October 4 at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena.

While world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, a four-time champion in Shanghai, isn’t present, the tournament has attracted most of the top players in the world. That’s because there’s nearly $9 million in prize money on the line as well as 1,000 ranking points for the winner, which could help someone outside of the top eight secure a spot in next month’s ATP Finals in Mexico.

Let’s take a closer look at the top three seeds for this upcoming Rolex Shanghai Masters tournament so you can get a better idea when looking at the MyBookie’s ATP betting lines.

Carlos Alcaraz

Although he only won one Grand Slam this year (Wimbledon), it has been a great year for world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz. He was a semi-finalist at the US Open and French Open and missed the Australian Open due to injury. He’s currently in the semifinals of the China Open against Italian Jannik Sinner.

Alcaraz has made it to at least the quarter-final in every tournament since the Italian Open in May. He’s 61-7 overall this season with six titles and could add a seventh in Beijing.

The 20-year-old Spaniard has already won two ATP Masters 1000 events this season (Madrid and Indian Wells) and is the clear favorite to win in Shanghai, especially considering he hasn’t dropped a set yet in Beijing.

Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev, the 2023 US Open runner-up, is also still competing in Beijing. The 27-year-old Russian is into the semifinals against Alexander Zverev, who is desperately trying to compile points to move into the top eight in the Pepperstone ATP rankings. Medvedev, the world No. 3, beat Ugo Humbert, Alex de Minaur, and Tommy Paul en route to the semifinals in Beijing.

His play has been up and down this season before the US Open, at least based on his expectations. He’s 58-12 this season with five titles, including two ATP Masters 1000 titles (Rome and Miami). Medvedev will begin his tournament Friday against the winner of a qualifier and Cristian Garin.

Holger Rune

Holger Rune begins the tournament as the third seed despite his struggles over the course of the last month. Many expected the 20-year-old Dane to make a major breakthrough this season, and while he has been solid, he hasn’t quite met expectations. He lost to Grigor Dimitrov in the Round of 16 at the China Open and was out in the first round of the US Open.

Overall, Rune is 37-16 this season but has just one title, winning in Munich. He doesn’t necessarily have an easy second-round match either, as he will face the winner of Brandon Nakashima and Bernabe Zapata Miralles.
