It has been an interesting first week at Wimbledon, with plenty of upsets and play routinely suspended by rain and inclement weather. While the top seeds have survived the first round (and some the second round), there has been a number of notable upsets.

Let’s take a closer look at the Wimbledon betting odds for the men’s and women’s Singles Third Round matches.

Wimbledon Updates and Upsets

French Open finalist Casper Ruud saw his Wimbledon dreams come to an end in the second round with an upset loss 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 0-6 to Liam Broady. American Taylor Fritz, who had the fifth-shortest odds to win the men’s draw on Thursday, also lost his second-round match to Swede Mikael Ymer. Fellow Americans Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe are through to the third round. 

Andy Murray and Stefanos Tsitsipas are scheduled to resume their second-round match on Friday. Murray leads 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. The break could be beneficial for Tsitsipas, who needed four hours to win his first-round match against Dominic Thiem.

In the women’s draw, top seeds Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina are through to the third round. Aryna Sabalenka plays her second-round match today against Varvara Gracheva. Karolina Muchova, the 2023 French Open runner-up, lost her first-round match against Jule Niemeier in an upset result predicted by yours truly.

Wimbledon Must-Bet Matches

Christopher Eubanks (+255) vs. Cameron Norrie (-349)

American Christopher Eubanks meets Briton Cameron Norrie on Tuesday in one of the final second-round matches in the men’s draw. Eubanks beat Brazilian Thiago Monteiro in the first round on the strength of 20 aces and an 85 percent win percentage on first serve. Norrie, the world No. 12, beat Tomas Machac in four sets in the first round.

Norrie and Eubanks have never played each other on the ATP Tour. Both have had strong seasons, especially on grass, with Eubanks holding an 11-3 record compared to Norrie’s 3-1. Norrie, however, has played tough competition, with many of Eubanks’ matches coming in qualifying. Norrie is 15-6 in the last three years on grass and should be a safe bet to not only win this match but cover the -4.5 (-124) games spread.

Donna Vekic (-103) vs. Marketa Vondrousova (-121)

The third-round match between Donna Vekic and Marketa Vondrousova is one of the closest based on betting odds. The game’s spread is +0.5 (-112) for Vekic and -0.5 (-116) for Vondrousova. I’d be comfortable betting either the Vekic -103 ML or over 22.5 (-102) total games.

Vekic is 1-0 against Vondrousova, having beat the Czech player back in 2018 in the Hobart International. Vekic is 7-2 on grass this season and 18-9, dating back to 2021. Vondrousova is just 4-4 on grass since 2021 with a career 9-12 record on the surface.
