The 2023 Women’s European Volleyball Championship starts on Tuesday, August 15 and runs through Sunday, September 3. For the third straight European Volleyball Championship cycle, four nations will host the tournament.

The four nations for this year’s championship are Belgium, Estonia, Germany, and Italy. The Italians are the solid -107 favorites. Will Italy get it done? Or will a different nation take the Women’s European Volleyball title?

The word is out that Turkey can take the championship. The women’s volleyball team surprised everyone when winning the Women’s Volleyball Nations League.

Turkey took home the trophy at the Nations League after beating China 3 games to 1. The victory was the most significant volleyball tourney victory in Turkey’s history.

Although the Turks have never won a European Volleyball Championship, they did finish second in 2003 and 2019. So the program has developed into one of the best in the world. Turkey, for sure, can take the title.

However, the odds are light. Also, Turkey doesn’t have a player on Paola Egonu’s level or the overall talent that Poland possesses. So the prediction is Turkey finishes third.
