We are at the stage of the WNBA season where teams are beginning to clinch playoff spots, with 3 of the available 8 slots already claimed.
The fact of the matter is that the top 3 teams are beginning to open up a gap on the rest of the chasing pack, to the point where the battle in the remaining weeks is going to be for seeding more than anything else.
My Analysis of WNBA Games to watch this Week
Down by the cut line, things are beginning to get very interesting, as you have a pair of teams below that line starting to put some wins together.
^Lynx at Mercury
Wednesday, August 28, 10:00 PM, NBA TV, Spectrum Sports Net | The Lynx are one of the three teams to have clinched a playoff spot already, plus they are the hottest team in the league right now.
They come into this one having won 6 in a row and 8 of their last 10 games. They have taken 2 of 3 from the Mercury this season and are looking for a victory that will give them the regular season series win.
Phoenix is down in the #5 spot and looks set to be in the postseason, but they will also want to up their game after going just 5-5 in their last 10 outings.
^New York Liberty at Seattle Storm
They are 12-3 in road games this season and beat Seattle on home court in their only other meeting this season.
Seattle has cooled off a little of late and are just 5-5 in their last 10 games. They are, though, an impressive 11-4 at home, so do not count them out here.
^Atlanta Dream at Las Vegas Aces
Friday, August 30, 10:00 PM, ION | It is going to be a frantic finish to the season for the Dream as they look to get over the cut line and into the playoffs.
They are just a single game back of that final spot, but the fact of the matter is that they are not doing enough to make a move, winning just 3 times in their last 10 games.
They have only won 4 times away from home, although the Las Vegas Aces have not exactly been unbeatable in their own building, going 9-7 in home games this season.
These teams have split their season series to this point.
^Seattle Storm at Connecticut Sun
Sunday, September 1, 1:00 PM, NBA TV | We have already spoken about the Storm this week, but the fact that they are in this preview once again proves that they have a tough few days ahead of them.
They will hit the road this weekend for a very difficult trip to face the Connecticut Sun, who have already clinched a playoff spot and who are sitting 2nd overall right now.
The Storm did beat Connecticut earlier this season, although that one did come on home court.
