The 2022 NFL season still feels as though it’s a long way off, but we all love football so much that we can’t help but start thinking about how we are going to wager on the upcoming season. One future bet that we can certainly look at is the win totals for each team in the league. It’s certainly fun to look at the schedule and start attributing wins and losses, but we also know that there are many factors, including injuries and player transactions, that can change things dramatically. We are well aware of all of that, but we are still going to start looking at the NFL Team Totals odds and making some predictions, this time for the AFC West.
NFL 2022 Season Win Total Over/Under Picks for the AFC West Division
Denver Broncos – UNDER 10
When the win totals for the coming season are released, there are always a couple that seem to jump off the board. Some teams seem overvalued, while others seem undervalued. In this case, I think we are looking at a team that is overvalued, albeit for very good reason. Since Peyton Manning retired, the Broncos have been on a desperate search for a franchise QB, which they look to have landed with the acquisition of Russell Wilson. We have seen great QBs elevate a team in a big way, but we have also seen some fail to make a huge difference. In a strong division, this number seems too high, in my opinion.
Kansas City Chiefs – OVER 10 ½
This is a team that has been in each of the last 4 AFC Conference Championship Games and coming off a season where they won 12 games. I have a feeling that the win total given to the Chiefs by the bookies is because of the loss of Tyreek Hill in the offseason. That is certainly a massive loss, and while he is going to be a tough player to replace, the Chiefs have done a good job of addressing all their needs in free agency and through the draft. I would not be surprised to once again see the Chiefs deliver another 11- or 12-win season.
Las Vegas Raiders – OVER 8 ½
Last season was one that was filled with adversity for the Raiders, who saw their coach ousted midseason after some serious controversy. It would have been easy for this team to shut up shop at that point, but they battled on and ended up with 10 wins on the season. They have improved their squad in the offseason, including getting Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers. Yes, this promises to be a tough decision, but 10 wins does not seem out of the question for me.
LA Chargers – LA Chargers – OVER 10
For me, this is the toughest of the 4 teams to predict, as the number posted looks like one that could very much be a push. A strong start to the season is always a must, and the Chargers start out the year with a pair of games against division opponents. If they lose both of those, the 10 wins seems to be a stretch. If they can win or split those games, then they might well surpass the 10-win mark. Yes, I am sitting on the fence a little, but leaning OVER.
