IndyCar 2022 Grand Prix of Monterey Betting Picks, Odds Favorites and Prediction

If you were tasked with writing about the end of the IndyCar season and told to make it as exciting as possible, you probably couldn’t come up with anything better than what is happening in real life. This weekend will deliver the final race of the 2022 IndyCar season and there are a few drivers who are heading into the final race with a shot at walking away as the World Champion. Who that driver will be remains to be seen, but what we do know is that the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey is a race that you are not going to want to miss, but who should you wager on ahead of the final race? There are a few who are definitely worth a look, let’s see if we can help you separate them so you can bet against their IndyCar Odds.

IndyCar Betting Analysis and Prediction for the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey Race

Will Power

While the drivers in the chasing pack are looking at all manner of different possibilities and permutations, for Will Power, it’s all rather simple. He is the current leader with 523 points and all he has to do to win his first championship since 2014 is to finish ahead of the drivers who are currently sitting behind him in the standings. Power only has 1 win on the season, but he has managed to finish every race and continually pick up points. One thing that has to be a little concerning is that he had a poor showing in this race last season, but current form suggests he will so better.

Josef Newgarden

The last time I spoke about IndyCar, and in particular the final stretch of races, I picked Newgarden to be the one to land on top. He finished 8th in the race at Gateway last time out, which dropped him a little further off the pace, but a win here might well be enough to leap him into the coveted top spot. He is another one that has not been great at this track, finishing 7th and 8th, respectively in his last 2 runs. Since I already picked him to win the championship, I am going to stick with that.

Scott Dixon

This is a driver who knows exactly what to do to win and how to handle the type of pressure that the top drivers will be facing this weekend. He has ended the season as champion on 6 different occasions, with 2020 being the last time he landed on top. He looked to be dead in the water a few weeks ago, but Dixon has finished strong and can make it 7 titles with a win and some help this weekend. He did have a top 3 finish here in 2019, but he will probably need to do better on Sunday.

Scott McLaughlin

Very quietly, McLaughlin has been closing the gap on the leaders in the past few weeks. Over the last 5 races, he has not finished worse than 4th, making a real move last weekend with a win in Portland. He still needs a lot to go right this weekend, but given his current form, McLaughlin could complete one of the best finishes to a season we have ever seen. He ran 12th in this race last time out, but expect better this weekend.
