IndyCar 2022 Music City Grand Prix Betting Picks, Odds Favorites and Prediction

If we looked at the IndyCar season the way in which we look at an individual race, it would be fair to suggest that we are heading into the final lap. There are just 4 races remaining in the 2022 season and the race for the top spot is proving to be a thriller. After last week’s race, we have a new leader, but with the way things have gone, I would not be willing to bet that things will look exactly the same once we get done with the final 4 races of the year. This weekend in Nashville should be a ton of fun, with the downtown streets of the city turned into a temporary track that will allow fans to get close to the action. If you are unable to get to Tennessee, you can still tune into this race and get your wager on. Let’s take a look at the current top 4 to see if they might be a factor on Sunday afternoon and you can bet against their IndyCar Odds.

IndyCar Betting Analysis and Prediction for the Music City Grand Prix Race

Will Power

2022 has proven to be a fantastic return to form for Will Power, who last won the IndyCar World Championship back in 2014. Last season was his worst showing since landing on top, as he finished 9th overall in 2021. He may only have a single win on the season, but Power has been the model of consistency, finishing no worse than 4th in 10 of the 12 races this year. He has the lead at the top of the driver standings, but can he stay there. He finished outside the top 10 in Nashville last season, but let’s not forget that it came in a bit of a down year, so bouncing back is a strong possibility.

Marcus Ericsson

If you look at the drivers that still have a shot to win it all this year, the one that you would automatically put out of contention is Ericsson. He had a major moment in winning the Indianapolis 500 in 2022, but he only has 2 other podium finishes the rest of the way. He could certainly finish strong and retake the lead, but I think he will slide a little further before all is said and done. That said, one of his 2 wins in 2021 came in Nashville, so he might be worth taking a look at this weekend.

Josef Newgarden

After winning a world championship in 2 of 3 years, Newgarden is now on a run of back-to-back second place finishes. While he will be disappointed at not winning again over the last couple of years, his performances are a sign that he always needs to be considered a threat to finish the year on top of the standings. He already has 4 wins on the season and might well need another one if he wants to close the gap and run down Will Power. He finished 10th in this race in 2021.

Scott Dixon

He may be sitting down in 4th in the driver standings right now, but I would not count Dixon out until winning a championship is mathematically impossible. He does, though, need to get on a run and pick up some wins in the final batch of races. He only has 1 win on the season, so it would take a much better run of form that what he has shown until now. Dixon finished 2nd in Nashville last year, so a win this weekend is not out of the question.
