College Football Betting 5 Fearless ACC Predictions

Written by on August 15, 2017

With superstar quarterback Deshaun Watson off to the NFL, the two-time reigning ACC Champion Clemson Tigers are expected to take a slight step backwards in 2017 and rightfully so, since you just don’t replace a player of Watson’s caliber very easily. With another team looking to nab the conference title – and possibly Clemson’s spot in the four-team College football Playoff the last two years, the five bold predictions that you’re about to get on the ACC will help you in efforts to cash in on several ACC title hopefuls this coming season. Let’s also get started with some college football betting odds for this season that you can find here at MyBookie.

Analyzing the College Football Betting 5 Fearless ACC Predictions

Florida State Wins the ACC in 2017!

After winning 10 games a year ago, the Florida State Seminoles (10-3 SU, 8-4 ATS) are now the odds-on-favorite to win the ACC in 2017 and I say rightfully so, although it could be closer than expected. The Seminoles have a player I love in dual-threat redshirt sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois (3,350 yards, 20 touchdowns) and as much raw talent on the defensive side of the ball and at the skill positions as any team in the nation. If head coach Jimbo Fisher can get his inexperienced offensive line to come together early on, Florida State could end up playing for a lot more than the ACC title in 2017.

College Football Week 1 Sleeper Picks

Louisville Cardinals Really Challenge for ACC Crown

While I’ve got Louisville finishing second to Florida State in the ACC in 2017, they could potentially beat out all challengers if they can improve their offensive line and stay focused throughout the entire 2017 season. The Cardinals have a quarterback unlike many we’ve ever seen at the collegiate level in 2016 Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson, a player that passed for 3,543 yards with 30 touchdown passes while rushing for an additional 1,571 yards and 21 touchdowns. Louisville (9-4 SU, 5-7-1 ATS) ranked sixth in scoring (42.5 ppg) last season and will be able to put points on the board again under head coach Bobby Petrino, but Jackson needs a bit more help at the skill positions and needs to take fewer than the 47 sacks he did a year ago. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Louisville really challenge for the ACC title in 2017.

Virginia Tech Finishes in the Top 20 in Defense!

You may not know who Virginia Tech Hokies head coach Justin Fuente is, but I do and I say he’s one of the best young coaches in all of college football today. While Fuente is known for having one of the best offensive minds in the game today, Virginia Tech finished a stellar 28th in points allowed (22.8 ppg) last season and they could be even better on that side of the ball in 2017 seeing as how they have a pair of cornerbacks that are both, sure-fire future NFL performers in Brandon Facyson and Greg Stroman and also have a quartet of linebackers that could be as good as any group in the country.Of course, a lot of Virginia Tech’s success this coming season will be dependent upon whether or not Fuente can find a suitable replacement for departed quarterback Jerod Evans, No. 1 wide receiver Isaiah Ford and tight end Bucky Hodges, but I’m expecting the Hokies to be elite defensively – and as we all know by now defense wins championships.

Clemson Wins 10!

While the Clemson Tigers lost a real star in Watson, I also believe they can reach the double-digit win mark, mostly because of the perennially powerful defense that head Coach Dabo Swinney has built at the school. I know Watson and the Tigers’ offense received the majority of attention the last two seasons, but Clemson’s defense was as equally important to the Tigers’ success the last two years if not more so.Clemson finished the 2016 season ranked a stellar eighth in total defense (311.5 ypg) and equally impressive 10th in points allowed (18/0 ppg). While Clemson loses a handful of starters, there’s also plenty of elite talent waiting in the wings in the forms of defensive ends Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence. Overall, the Tigers return seven starters on the defensive side of the ball and it is that reason why I believe they’ll win 10 games no matter who starts under center.

North Carolina Is in Trouble

Defensively, Carolina (8-5 SU, 8-5 ATS) returns six starters, but they could be a mess on offense after losing starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky, starting running back T.J. Logan and Elijah Hood, wide receivers Ryan Switzer and Bug Howard and three starters on the offensive line.ACC prediction: I know LSU transfer Brandon Harris will be under center for the Heels this coming season.I know LSU transfer Brandon Harris will be under center for the Heels this coming season, but if you saw the way he flamed out with the Tigers, then you should know that this coming season could be quite problematic for the Tar Heels, at least offensively.
