NCAA Football: Kent State vs Texas A&M Betting Analysis

Last season, Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher brought his team to the cusp of a College Football Playoff bid. This season, many college football analysts believe Fisher coaches the Aggies to a SEC Championship and the CFP. On Sep. 4, A&M doesn’t face a team that will challenge them. But if we’re to believe the Aggies will beat Alabama, Georgia, and win the SEC, Texas A&M can’t just beat Kent State, the Aggies must also cover the spread. Check out NCAAF odds, analysis, and a free betting pick for Kent State Golden Flashes versus Texas A&M Aggies.

Why bet on the Kent State Golden Flashes?

29 points. That’s what the Aggies are giving to the Golden Flashes before kick-off. 29 points are too many to give to a team that averaged 612.5 yards and 49.8 points per game last season. Also, Kent State has juniors and seniors on both sides of the football, including graduate quarterback Dustin Crum who was a First Team All-MAC player in 2020.

Kent State Last 4

  • L – 70-41 at Buffalo
  • W – 69-35 at Akron
  • W – 62-24 at Bowling Green
  • W – 27-23 vs. Eastern Michigan

Kent State Predicted Starting Offense

  • WR – Ja’Shaun Park
  • WR – Nykeim Johnson
  • WR – Dante Cephas
  • LT – Daniel Johnson
  • LG – Adam Gregoire
  • OC – Jack Clement
  • RG – Nathan Monnin
  • RT – Bill Kuduk
  • TE – Aaron Hackett
  • QB – Dustin Crum

Why bet on the Texas A&M Aggies?

Fisher’s squad lost a single game in 2020. The loss happened versus Alabama, the eventual National Champions. Bama dominated the Aggies 52-24. Most teams never recover after a devastating loss. All Texas A&M did was win 8 straight, including blasting #13 North Carolina 41-27 in the Orange Bowl. If Jimbo’s team builds on the momentum they gained from last season’s impressive run, the Aggies should easily cover this spread.

Texas A&M Last 5

  • W – 41-27 vs. North Carolina
  • W – 34-13 at Tennessee
  • W – 31-20 at Auburn
  • W – 20-7 vs. LSU
  • W – 48-3 at South Carolina

Texas A&M Predicted Starting Offense

  • WR – Chase Lane
  • WR – Caleb Chapman
  • WR – Ainias Smith
  • LT – Jahmir Johnson
  • LG – Aki Ogunbiyi
  • OC – Luke Matthews
  • RG – Layden Robinson
  • RT – Kenyon Green
  • TE – Jayden Wydermyer
  • QB – Haynes King
  • RB – Isaiah Spiller

Final Betting Analysis

On paper, it looks like Texas A&M will beat the Golden Flashes by 60 points. The Aggies might, but the the most likely outcome is a 21 to 24 points A&M victory.

Kent State returns most players from last season’s squad. On offense, the Golden Flashes aren’t a one-trick pony.  Crum averaged 325.5 passing yards per while the Flashes rushed for 289 yards each game, ranking third in the nation.

More importantly, Texas A&M leaned on quarterback Kellen Mond. Last year’s starter now plays for the Minnesota Vikings. Mond isn’t the only key player missing from 2020’s terrific team.

Texas A&M could covers versus Kent State. But the Golden Flashes are a veteran team who knows how to move the football. Because of that, we’ll take the 29 points.
