2022 NCAA Football Michigan Wolverines vs Colorado State Rams Betting Analysis for Week 1

2022 NCAA Football Michigan Wolverines vs Colorado State Rams Betting Analysis for Week 1

The “Big House” will be the scene for Michigan’s season opener, as the Wolverines will host the Colorado State Rams in week 1 of the 2022 College Football season. Michigan is coming off of a successful 2021 season. The Wolverines won the Big 10 title and earned a spot in the College Football Playoffs. Even though they were beaten by Georgia, Jim Harbaugh proved to everyone that he could win at Michigan.

Colorado State will look different this season. After a dismal 2021 season, the Rams made some changes. Jay Norvell left Nevada for Colorado State and is looking to take the Rams to the next level. Norvell brought a lot of his former players with him, so Colorado State will have undergone a ton of changes in just a year’s time. It’s time to take a closer look at both teams so you can get ready to bet against their NCAA Football Lines.

Week 1 Betting Odds: Michigan at Colorado State | 2022 College Football Betting Analysis

Michigan Wolverines

Coming off of a playoff appearance, the Wolverines lost a lot of talented players from last year’s roster. While the defensive front will have a lot of new faces, the offensive line should be one of the best in the country. Harbaugh loves to run the ball, and this line is built for a running offense. Michigan will have an experienced backfield returning and will have a very talented group of wideouts. Cade McNamara will be under center to start the game, but JJ McCarthy could also see some time at the quarterback position. Michigan’s offense should be very good, and will be very tough for Colorado State to handle.

As for the defense, the Wolverines will have to replace a lot of pieces from last year’s squad. They have some returning linemen that will be strong, and the linebacking crew will also have some experienced players. The secondary will need to be retooled, but this group should be good.

Colorado State Rams

Norvel has brought renewed energy to Colorado State. In bringing many of his former players with him, this group should know his system. There will be growing pains, as numerous transfer starters and new recruits will need to get up to speed quickly. They’ll also have to play one of the nation’s most physical teams right out of the gate.

Another issue for Colorado State will be that they’re starting a freshman quarterback. Against a very good defense like Michigan, this could make for a very bad situation. We’ll see how well the young quarterback and the offense adjust to what Michigan is doing.

Betting Numbers

The Wolverines are favored by 17.5 points on Saturday. The numbers don’t bode well for Colorado State, while they look pretty good for Michigan. The Rams are 0-6 against the spread in their last six games. They’re also 0-5 against the spread in their last five games played on an artificial surface.

The Wolverines numbers look a little different. In their last six games, the Wolverines are 5-1 against the spread. Michigan has also been very good against the spread of artificial surfaces. In their last 12 games, they’re 11-1. In looking at all of the numbers, they’re very favorable for the Wolverines.

If we were making the bets, we’d have to take the Wolverines. They’re just going to be too strong for a rebuilding program, and they’ll have a huge home-field advantage. Go with the Wolverines.
