NCAAF 2021 National Championship Betting Update: Bowl Season Around the Corner

NCAAF 2021 National Championship Betting Update: Bowl Season Around the Corner

Bowl season in college football will start later this week, and while there are some very good matchups to look forward to, we are all impatiently waiting for the playoff semi-final games. Those will arrive on New Year’s Eve, and we have to say that it’s one of the times where the Playoff Committee got the 4 teams correct. Yes, there are some who believe that the committee pulled a bit of a fast one in keeping Alabama and Georgia apart, with the belief that they want an all-SEC National Championship Game, but I think they got the final rankings spot on. The big question now, though is whether that matchup will come, but if you go by the odds being offered by the bookies for the National Championship, we might well be getting a rematch between the Tide and the Dawgs. Let’s look at those odds so you can continue planning your bets against the College Football National Championship odds.

National Championship Odds to Win: Alabama, Georgia, Cincinnati & Michigan

Alabama Crimson Tide (-101)

When you have won the National Championship as often as Alabama has over the past decade or so, you deserve to go into the playoffs as the favorite. That said, this is a team that was seconds away from missing out altogether, needing a late score and OT to beat Auburn in the final game of the regular season. A loss there would have had them at 2 losses on the season, and even with their win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, they would have been a long shot to get in. As it is, they are the #1 team in the country heading into the playoffs and have a semi-final game that you would bet your life on them winning.

Georgia Bulldogs (+110)

The Bulldogs ended the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record and defensive stats that were among the best we have ever seen. They jumped out to an early 10-0 lead over Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, but things went off the rails after that, as their D was routinely opened up and exposed by the Crimson Tide. The problem that Georgia now has is whether to stick with Stetson Bennett at QB or perhaps change things up and hand the reins to JT Daniels. They have a tough one as the #3 seed against Michigan coming up, but that vaunted defense should be back at it’s best and ready to take the Dawgs to the next round.

Michigan Wolverines (+640)

When the Michigan Wolverines lost to Michigan State late in October, the feeling was that their season was probably over, especially with the schedule that they still had ahead of them. They went on a run after that, though, setting up and elimination game of sorts in their final game of the regular season against the Ohio State Buckeyes. They delivered a bit of an upset there, hammering the Buckeyes in a lopsided affair before winning the Big Ten Championship in convincing style.

Cincinnati Bearcats (+1400)

The Bearcats made history by becoming the first team from the Group of 5 to make it into the playoffs. The argument has always been that those teams don’t play a particularly tough schedule, but you can only beat what is in front of you, which is exactly what the Cincinnati Bearcats did in their unbeaten season. Their big win came against Notre Dame early in the season, but they also beat a ranked Houston team in their Conference Championship Game. Playing Alabama is a whole different ball of wax, though.
