NCAA Football San Diego State Aztecs WinLoss Total Betting Prediction for the 2022 Season

NCAA Football San Diego State Aztecs Win/Loss Total Betting Prediction for the 2022 Season

There are a lot of changes coming to the world of college football, with teams switching conference and an eventual expansion to the playoff setup. We are also preparing to see some conferences ditch the 2-division system, with the Mountain West Conference set to go that route in 2023. It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out, but what we do know is that the scrapping of the divisions would not have had an impact on what the Conference Championship Game looked like last season. The San Diego State Aztecs finished at 7-1 in the West Division, which was the best record in the Mountain West. They ultimately lost in the final to the Utah State Aggies, but can they rebound this season and go one better? The bookies are not totally convinced, as they have the Aztecs win total set at 7 ½. Let’s take a closer look at what the 2022 season looks like for the San Diego State Aztecs so you can plan your bets against their NCAAF Regular Season Wins Odds.

San Diego State 2022 Season Betting Prediction: Win/Loss Total Record

Aztecs Regular Season

Given that the Aztecs won 12 games last season and have been in double-digits in wins in 5 of the last 7 years, you do have to say that the 7 ½ game win total seems pretty low indeed. Still, topping those 12 wins, which was an all-time best, is going to be close to impossible, especially with an essentially rebuilt offensive line.

They open the season with a tough matchup against the Arizona Wildcats, and you have to say that a win against a Power 5 opponent would be a great start, but also not a total nightmare if they lose. They should win Week 2 against Idaho State, but a trip to Utah looks like a loss. Yes, they beat the Utes last season, but that was on home field. They should bounce back with a win against Toledo, after which they get their first big conference challenge of the season with a road trip to Boise State, who are the favorites to win the Mountain West.

Heading onto October, the Aztecs could potentially be 3-2, but just as easily at 2-3. With Hawaii at home and Nevada on the road to start the month, the Aztecs have a shot at picking up a pair of wins. They will have another tough test after that with a road trip to Fresno State, who are also among the favorites to win the conference.

The Aztecs will have an opportunity to close out strong in the month of November and potentially go on a run that will win them the division. They will have a pair of winnable home games against UNLV and San Jose State before going in the road to face New Mexico, which should be another win. They close out the regular season with a tough game against Air Force, albeit on home field.

Aztecs Season Prediction

Like we mentioned earlier, matching the 12 wins from last season does not look likely for the Aztecs. That said, there are enough winnable games on the schedule to get them to 8 or 9 without too much trouble. Whether that is enough to win them the West and get them back to the Mountain West Conference Championship Game remains to be seen. I am not totally sold on them doing that, to be honest.
