ESL One Berlin Major 2023 is the second Major of the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit season.

When: Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 2:30 pm ET
Where: Velodrom, Berlin, Germany
Format: Round-robin group stage | Double-elimination playoffs
Prize Pool: $500,000 USD

Shopify Rebellion Safelane

Shopify’s Arteezy has long been one of Dota’s most notorious players, yet a major title still eludes him. Shopify Rebellion placed third at the most recent Dreamleague tournament, but fell flat on the final day in one of the first series on the new patch. Arteezy and Fly have some work cut out for them, as Arteezy is notorious for excessive farming in a fight-heavy meta.

Collapse continues to be one of the best offlaners in the world, capable of adapting to any situation. He and Mira received some nice hero pool buffs in the patch, including to Collapse’s legendary Magnus. Watch out for the presence of Underlord, one of the meta’s best heroes and a specialty of Collapse.

Team Spirit Safelane

Spirit’s Yatoro is the king of versatility, as he showed during the team’s TI10 run. He should be able to play any carry, and he is already spamming Meepo in his public matches, a hero shaping up to be one of the top carries of the meta. Miposhka is also solid, capable of playing greedy and sacrificial supports alike.

Saberlight has revolutionized this Shopify Rebellion lineup since joining last fall, bringing a wide hero pool that is chock full of zoo heroes and utility picks alike. It remains to be seen if he and Crit- will be able to fully adapt to the new meta, as roaming comes back into prominence. If Crit is allowed to roam and cause havoc on the map, Shopify could be in a fantastic spot.

Midlane

Shopify’s Abed missed out on the Dreamleague tournament due to a visa issue, but Shopify looked strong with their stand-in, Mikey. Abed remains one of the most talented players in all of Dota, and he should be salivating at the prospect of reincorporating his signature Meepo and Void Spirit into his hero pool.

Larl has been consistent for Spirit since joining last fall, and expect more of the same in this tournament. He has excelled when making space for Collapse and Yatoro, so this fight-heavy meta should be quite favorable for a Team Spirit team in dire need of early-game action.
