Top CS:GO ESL Pro League Season 14 Matches to Wager on August 28
Natus Vincere vs mousesports
- When: Saturday, August 28 – 16:45 CEST
Natus Vincere enter ESL Pro League Season 14 as the main favorites to hoist the trophy and add another title to their impressive resume. Having already won Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Cologne in July, NaVi are expected to dominate and reach at least the finals, and while it’s hard to doubt their ability to do just that, we aren’t too excited about NaVi for this match.
Mousesports are by no means as strong as NaVi, nor have they achieved the same success as the Ukrainian squad this season. However, they should have a solid chance to cause an upset.
As good as NaVi can be, they’re known as a team that consistently underperforms in the early stages of the tournaments. Unfortunately, there’s no way to explain why that’s the case, but everyone knows not to expect a lot from NaVi before they warm up.
What’s more, it’s not like mousesports are a terrible team. On the contrary, they have excellent players and could easily be one of the top European CS:GO teams if they fielded a better in-game leader. That weakness will likely prevent them from making a deep run at this tournament, but they are definitely solid enough to fight for a top-three finish in Group C.
Mousesports are priced as high as +225 to defeat Natus Vincere, which underrates them a bit. You could bet on mouz with a map handicap, but at this price, you have to take a shot with the outsiders to upset the current no.1 team in the world.
Prediction: mousesports to win
FaZe Clan vs Evil Geniuses
- When: Saturday, August 28 – 20:00 CEST
FaZe Clan enter this match as a heavy betting favorite, which might make sense to some. They have had an excellent showing in Cologne, where they eliminated the current no.2 Gambit Esports, and they definitely deserve respect for that.
Having said that, the IEM Cologne was played on LAN, while the ESL Pro League Season 14 will take place online. That’s an important factor to keep in mind, especially when we talk about FaZe Clan.
Even though FaZe own one of the most stacked rosters in the world, they only seem to do well on LAN but consistently underperform in online matches. That isn’t that big of a problem when you talk about FaZe’c chances to win a Major Championship, but when it comes to online tournaments such as the ESL Pro League, you have to recognize that FaZe might not live up to the expectations.
Evil Geniuses enter this match without their star player Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz, who will get replaced by coach Damian “daps” Steele. That obviously isn’t ideal; however, this is still a solid team.
FaZe are stronger on paper, but since this will be their only second match after a month-long break, on top of the fact that it will be played online, we have to take a shot with EG.
Prediction: Evil Geniuses to win
