OB.Neon vs TNC Predator

  • When: Wednesday, December 23 – 14:00 CST

OB.Neon and TNC Predator last met in April, when TNC won 2-1 during the second season of Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Southeast Asia. It marked TNC’s second consecutive head-to-head win; however, that doesn’t mean much for this prediction.

Both OB.Neon and TNC have made some significant roster changes in November and now field entirely different rosters.

Still, it’s hard to trust OB.Neon to turn things around. They have yet to win a match this season and have only managed one win since BTS Pro Series 9: Southeast Asia in November 2021.

That stretch includes defeats against BOOM Esports (1-2, 0-2), MG.Trust (0-2), Execration (1-2), and Fnatic (0-2). Admittedly, winning one map against BOOM is respectable, but overall, OB.Neon have yet to show anything inspiring.

TNC Predator are in a similar spot, having managed only one win since November, and enter this match on a six-game losing streak. Their run is even worse than that of OB.Neon, seeing how TNC Predator have lost all of their last four outings without winning a map.

The eSports bookmakers have TNC Predator priced as the favorites at close to +200, OB.Neon as the underdogs at +300 and a draw priced at +100.

Since both teams are clearly struggling with their form, a draw seems like a real possibility. However, at +300, it’s hard to pass on OB.Neon who may be terrible, but they are not that much worse than TNC Predator.

Prediction: OB.Neon to win

OB.Neon vs Invictus Gaming

  • When: Wednesday, December 23 – 16:00 CST

As noted above, OB.Neon are in terrible shape, and we don’t expect them to achieve much this tournament. They might do well against other struggling teams, but they won’t achieve much against Invictus Gaming, and that is keeping it light.

One thing that could concern you is that Invictus Gaming enter this match a bit ring rusty. They haven’t played a single official match since The International 10 in November, so we don’t know in what shape they will enter Huya Dota2 Winter Invitational 2021.

But that’s a minor concern since Invictus Gaming is still one of the strongest Dota 2 teams globally. They finished TI10 in fourth place, losing only against Team Secret and the eventual champions, Team Spirit.

Invictus Gaming are one of the most stacked teams in the world, featuring the likes of Jin “flyfly” Zhiyi, Zhou “Emo” Yi, Thiay “JT-” Jun Wen, Pan “Fade” Yi, and Chan “Oli” Chon. In comparison, OB.Neon roster comprises young talent and a couple of veterans, most notably Federico Jr. Cartagina “Abeng” Dicdican.

The quality gap between OB.Neon and Invictus Gaming is massive, and while you could make a case for the underdogs to upset the ring-rusty Chinese juggernauts had they been in better form, but with the way OB.Neon have been playing of late; we’re giving them zero to no chance of winning a single map, let alone the whole series.

Take Invictus Gaming to kick off the 2021/22 season with a 2-0 sweep, as they warm-up for the opening rounds of the Chinese DPC Tour 1 Division I.

Prediction: Invictus Gaming -1.5 maps
