It’s especially good if you are between 2 or 3 horses, but simply cannot decide on an order of finish. Playing the quinella with Exaggerator

After a devastating performance in the Preakness, Exaggerator will head into the Belmont as the 9-5 morning line favorite. That is sure to have him getting a lot of attention with bettors, and it may well be a very safe bet to include him in all of your exotics. The interesting thing about horse racing is that the favorite actually only wins about 30% of the time, and that means that there is a better than average chance that another horse might be able to spring the upset. The beauty of the quinella is that you can still win even if the favorite loses, assuming of course that you have the winning horse on your ticket, too. If you want to have Exaggerator on there, I would recommend playing a straight ticket with him and Stradivari.

Increasing your chances of a quinella payout

Your best chance of cashing a winning ticket in the 2016 Belmont Stakes race is to give yourself as many possible winning combinations as your betting budget will allow. You can play a straight quinella ticket for $1, but you are really only getting 2 chances to win. With a 13-horse field, which is what we are getting at the Belmont, you are taking a bit of a risk by playing just 2 horses. Double the number of selections on your ticket to 4 horses and you are now looking at 6 possible winning combinations, which of course means that the cost of your ticket is now 6 times your original stake. There are about 3 or 4 horses that you can pretty much eliminate right off the bat, which makes choosing those 4 horses a little bit easier. The 4 horses that I would play in a quinella box are Exaggerator, Stradivari, Suddenbreakingnews, and Brody’s Cause.
