2017 MLB Series You Shouldn’t Miss This Week (June 26th)

There are just 2 weeks left before the first half of the major league baseball season draws to a close, and the MLB Series games played during this stretch may well decide whether teams decide to buy or sell when the trade deadline. There are already a few decisions that appear to be rather obvious, but there are also a large number of teams caught in the middle, with many of them knowing that a couple of moves and a good second half might be enough to get them into the playoff picture. We have some excellent baseball series on tap for this week, so let’s take a moment to look at what appear to be, on paper at least, the best ones coming up.

Chicago Cubs at Washington Nationals –  Monday to Thursday

Sure, the Chicago Cubs are not being anywhere near as good as they were last season, but make no mistake about it, this is a match-up that will have baseball fans drooling a little. The Cubs continue to struggle with consistency, but at just 1.5 games back, they are right in the hunt for another Central Division crown. No such concerns for the Washington Nationals, as they have one of the best records in baseball, not to mention a 9-game lead atop the East. This will be a very good test for both teams, and a series that should be fun to watch.

LA Angels at LA Dodgers – Monday to Thursday

What makes this MLB series so special, besides the obvious LA rivalry, is that we don’t get to see these two team go head to head very often. The Dodgers are the hottest team in baseball right now, coming into this week with a 10-game winning streak that has seem them take control of the NL West. The Angels are 13 games back of the Astros in the AL West, but are realistically still in with a shot at a Wild Card spot if they can pick things up a little in the second half.

Colorado Rockies at Arizona Diamondbacks – Friday to Sunday

The NL West is being ridiculously entertaining this season, and much of the credit for that needs to go to the Rockies and the Diamondbacks. Both teams are currently making offseason moves that instantly makes them much better teams, and both are delivering very solid seasons. They are both losing a little bit of ground to the Dodgers right now, so this is a MLB series that both teams really need to win if they don’t want to get themselves into too big of a hole in the title race. The Rockies are already on a 5-game losing skid heading into this week, so it perhaps means a little ore to them.

Minnesota Twins at Kansas City Royals – Friday to Sunday

Divisional games are always fun to watch, but they are even more exciting when the teams involved are both in the thick of the title race. The Minnesota Twins are a very pleasant surprise this season, and few people are currently chosing them to be in the pole position in the Central at this stage of the season. In the lead is exactly where they are, though, and they will be looking to open up the gap a little when they face the Royals, who are currently 2.5 game back, this coming weekend. This is a 4-game series that features a double-header, as well as the potential for some real fireworks.

New York Yankees at Houston Astros – Friday to Sunday

When a team is struggling through a bad patch, the last thing they want to do is go on the road to face the team with the best record in the league, but that is exactly what the Yankees are going to need to do this coming weekend. The Yankees are on the slide, but are still sharing the top spot in the AL East with the Boston Red Sox. Unless you have been living under a rock, you should be well aware of just how good the Astros have been this season. They are one of only two teams to have crossed the 50-win mark this season, and they are always tough to beat.
